¿Question #3725?
puzzleme: How would you handle the situation if you noticed someone just cheated at a game you are playing and you are fairly sure it was intentional?

pwilz: It would depend on a lot of other factors.
Woelf: Point it out, but unless the person had a habit of cheating, I'd point it out in a way that would let them play it off as a mistake. Either way it gets corrected if possible.
Fribian: I'd be quiet about it but I'd never play with the person again
Darkwonder: I would say:" My mom always told me not to cheat, but why is [insert Name] cheating? I think she/he will go to hell for doing this." or something else.
Tunicate: I would call it out acting as if it was unintentional. "I think you drew three Sure Victory cards instead of one Instant Loser there..."
Patricula: Point it out but pretend that I thought that they were just making a mistake to give them an "out". Like saying "Whoops. Looks like you mistook the bank's money supply for your own."+
Cringing Dragon: Throw a stubbie holder at them.
mathmagician: call them out on it.
senorcoo: I would handle it diplomatically - "CHEATER!!!"
Spirit of 70: Call them out.
beerbear: I would call them out for the rutabaga that they were.
DasViktor: Call them on it.
jessitron: i would point it out
Hendal: depends if it helped me or hurt me, and who it was, and how blantant the cheating?
Diamat: Oh, the usual way. Overturn the table, leap across it, throttle them, and then fricasse their tenderest parts and feed them to the dogs. And you?
jajax: 42
Bloodybucket: Gunplay
aleo09: i would adress the situation
ironsizide: Depends of the game. If it was Illuminati I'd out cheat the sneaky SOB. Otherwise I'd deck em.
vampywife: I'd just call them out on it, but I'd try to sound joking, so they could play it off as an accident.
DHEK: I'd mention it out casually but firmly in a way that would seem that I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to the cheater that maybe he's mistaken or didn't realize what he was doing. That way that'll give him a chance to backtrack and hopefully stop cheating. If it continues, then I'd just have to confront the person and ask him to stop cheating.
wetwebwork: Call them on it - in a hopefully humourous way.
Benzebub: I'd ask the offender if they meant to do that, and if they knew that it was not a legal move. Calling them out in a non-accusatory way does 2 things: 1) it lets them know you saw it and won't tolerate it, and 2) it gives them a face-saving way of getting out of it.
ZiggyZambo: Say something, but phrase it as if you just noticed that they made a mistake
jhenke: I'm a fan of the old west; you'll have six chances to dodge.
POvidiusNaso: I'd say, "Nice cheat, cheater."
Der Ubermolch: I'd point it out as if it were a misake. "Doesn't that unit cost four gold, not three?" or ""It's only one victory point for shipping that sugar, isn't it?"
2amp: point it out diplomatically "hey dummas, you wanna do that again - this time correctly?"
Greedo: I say nothing, but refuse to play with that group again in the future. If someone later asks why I don't play, then I tell them.
woonklepuff: I would strangle him/her to death with a handkerchief and claim it wasn't intentional.
stevegamer: Point out error. Normally the cheaters I know aren't dumb enough to cheat in front of me, because I watch them. Of course, if they're really slick, I may not know they cheat.
Ebon Wendigo: Ask them about it right in front of everybody
puffinge: I would question them about their actions immediately without indicating that I thought it was cheating. Then I would watch them very carefully from then on.
ralpheous: Call him out.
Agyar900: Bring it up after the game in private
Cut & Space: Just make him realize I saw him, but only after winning even though he cheated..
kashmoney: Kick the person out and never play with them again
dmomo: One night in the Smack-Down Hotel.
Skycaptain: I would call out the person and give them the chance to clear themselves.
sidkuhn: for free? ignore it, confront them later. Money? Baseball bat.
PsyJam: Call them on it, look up the rule, and confirm that they 'made a mistake'.
scriptorum: I'd out them loudly, but all the while assume they were just pretending and intended to get caught or fess up later to be funny. If I suspected they were truly cheating, I'd keep quiet, end the game night as early as possible, and afterwards tell any of the other players that I'm close to what happened.
Numskull: Ask if it was intentional. They'll look more surprised if they lie and say it wasn't. In that eventuality, never game with that person again.
Chris Page: Avoid playing with them again.
Android: "You cheatin' bastard!"
Kazin: Accuse them openly, get everyone else involved in the dispute.
rawdawg: snap, crackle, pop!
bobthemundane: Point out the "mistake", and watch them like a hawk.
janiera: Call them out...
beakermyers: Depends, I'd probably call em on it.
Gecko23: Inform them that they are a pathetic loser and go from there.
xandryyte: I would call them on it
confuse_a_cat: It's a situational call.
_Kael_: Nowadays: confronty him. But it happened at AD&D. Had material he never bought, turned his dice over when nobody watched. "O looky, ANOTHER double-damage!" Spoke with DM. He also noticed. He just kept giving penalties in XP. And we just kept hitting him by accident ("Oh, were you in my blast range?!") He was the only dwarf I knew who almost never had a beard and just kept smoking:-)
MisterCranky: I'd smack puffinge in the face, and laugh like a hyena.
Belash: i would call them on it, otherwise my wife will never learn not to cheat...
ssmooth: This happened to me once with a kid, so I told him, "Don't do that!" and watched him for the rest of the game to make sure he didn't.
xlorp: Escalate to restore game balance.
dakarp: Yikes! I'm glad I've never been in that situation. I really have no idea what I would do, but I would certainly never play with that person again.
Cavedog_pdx: You correct the manouver while giving your "friend" an out by portraying it as a simple mistake. For example "oops looks like you grabbed $20 instead of $10."
GI Joe: Call them on it, present the evidence, slug them, and never invite them back.
skrutsch: I might ignore it, or I might say, "Hey, I didn't know you could do that."
e.c.r.: call her on it
GrandpaDave: If it's not too major, I let it slide. Games aren't worth getting angry about.
markus_kt: Arg. The same way I do now. Ignore it and try not to play with that person any more.
ValJor: I would absent-mindedly ask: "did you do that on purpose?"
Hidalgo: Confront them about it. I'm rather blunt that way.
Ludocrazy: That happened to me at a con a while back. We ignored the TWO people and told the GM after. I thought it was pathetic because I was about to win.
erli: Punch him in the face or make fun of his mama
Lord_Prussian: Confront the individual.
Dave: Our group is so tight and ethical that this question for me is akin to asking me what I would do if I found out my wife was having an affair.
CortexBomb: Stop the game and inform that person that if they cheat again, at any game, that they are no longer welcome at my table
CDRodeffer: I would try to slip the cheater a note asking about it.
chaddyboy_2000: I'd probably point out that something wasn't right.
skelebone: Call them out. I usually play friendly games, and I'm not going to abide cheaters in my circle.
jttm: Shout "CHEATER!!!"
Spielfreak: I'd say out loud "Whoa whoa, could you go over what you just did? I'm a bit slow, and something didn't seem quite right."
sourwyrm: avoid playing with them again
