¿Question #3727?
darthcliff: I'm converting ASL into a eurogame, please help me by devising a resource management mechanic for determining supplies of ammo, cigarettes, and porn.
Svengaard: Huh?
senorcoo: I'm buying that one.
MamaRat: Well, you'll definitely have to maintain an inverse relationship between the ammo and porn supplies. I mean, if everyone's got porn, they're too busy wanking to worry about shooting people. And if there's not enough porn, people get angry.
shumby: having no experience with ASL I would suggest you take out whatever dice there may be and put in a complicated turn-order system... then add boobies and p-funks.
djcack: Everything is converted to porn or hand lotion. The end.
bulldozers: Playboy didnt exist until the 60s so should be fairly easily handled as 16mm film stock would rot on the boats over unless you have some playing cards with girls in silk teddys or old National geographics with some indiginous tribes peoples
virre: no, one only east-europeans smoke that much, and you forgot the boze part
ZiggyZambo: auction them
DHEK: How about bidding?
aleo09: .
Brentoon: Think about the children
Greedo: I understood absolutely none of that. .... except for the porn part. ::drool::
bagio99: Nah.
SisyphusX: That's not a question.
BeatPosse: i suggest a 1:1 modelling system in which one porn = one porn, one cigarette = one cigarette
hellsbishop: What is ASL?
jasta6: Do your own work, or do you plan to pay me more than I make now for my knowledge?
bigbadsteve: die roll, multiply by 4.334. cross reference this answer on the CRT chart under 6:1 odds, then adjust for inflation. answer should come out to and even number
Reloaded: uh huh... don't knock it until you properly tried it... :)
skrutsch: Good luck with that.
POvidiusNaso: Each player gets 10 money chips a year, 50% of which must be spent on either ammo, cigs, or porn. There ya go!
ZombyDawg: That's too much detail for a Euro. You will need to use abstract gimmicky concepts or it will be too fiddly and time consuming and will make Eurogamers whine.
EYE of NiGHT: You need little wooden cubes in different colours. Players distribute these around the board and compete for majorities. Counting totals between linked commodities controls supply or demand. You'll need card decks for each player which they cycle through. Strip out any conditional rules or action cards. No dice, unless you use probability. Easy.
GrandpaDave: Where's the question?
scriptorum: Roll 350,000 dice. Look up on Ammo Cigarettes Porn and Combat Results Table. Now have a beer and take a nap. Where was I?
KnobDoctor: Couldn't you collect little cardboard squares?
Karlsen: Fische Fluppen Frikadellen already has the fundamental resource managment and acquistion mechanics you need.
Belash: you should convert to ASL
Ludocrazy: How about chits. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of chits.
melissa: If it's ASL then it has to be dice, doesn't it?
djlg: cards
mrbeankc: no
dakarp: Eliminate variability in those resources, and value them at 2.
kimapesan: Roll dice. It works for Settlers.
rdmasters: The effectiveness of each unit is determined by the best of worst supply structure of all units, and then by an inverse geometric scale through successive units. Essentially you are scaling the relative worth of units on the basis of who is least unhappy. As for determining actual supply of the essentials, these are determined by being able to trace a path to supply units, and every turn that you are out of supply, you lose one supply counter - conversely, every turn not in combat, but in supply increases your supply of whichever supplies you can trace to.
Lord_Prussian: A track on the mapboard
CDRodeffer: Interesting idea. I think a chit-pull mechanic would work.
chaddyboy_2000: Ok, great.
skelebone: Sorry, that's not my thing.
jttm: Dice
Spielfreak: no
