They just have to be in the right environment. If you lived in a sewer or had to live where you poop and pee, you'd be pretty nasty too.

Spielfreak: It's the tail. We saw a squirrel recently that, for unknown reasons, had a non-fluffy tail, and boy-o-boy did he look hideous. The fluffy tail is a BIG cuteness factor.
