¿Question #3973?
skelebone: What is your opinion on users creating GeekLists to trade games (outside of UItimate-trade-type lists)? Valid use of system, or abuse of system for selfish gain, or other?

ptyx: don't care
Xaqery: Nothing wrong with that
Blott: I don't really see any problem with it. Isn't that one of the joys of the Geek?
Septic: Isn't there a trade system already in place? Use that.
DiceDuke: Seems reasonable
Rliyen: Valid use of the system, though I'd never do it.
UhhhClem: "The street finds its own use for things." - Wm. Gibson
foxxdye: Other: Dead and loving it.
ZiNOS: valid
DHEK: Valid use of system, but strange. They should, however be encouraged to use the proper place to market their wares. Perhaps if the proper channels were superior to doing it through this method they wouldn't have to resort to doing this. In any case, as they are free to create such lists, others are equally free to shun such lists if they don't like them doing that.
elirlandes: Probably not the proper use of the GeekLists, but wouldn't get too excited about it.
aleo09: nonoe
Eric Haas: I think it's just plain silly.
The_EyE: Other, I dont know what I GeekList is yet. Please tell me.
PsyJam: Well, it's basically no-holds-barred anyways.. Given the type of lists that are made and people's outcry for (or against) them, I guess it's just another use of the system. What I'd really like to see, though, is some kind of sorting system for geeklists, so taht we can focus on trade-lists, or off-topic lists, or whatever. Yah that'd be good.
Loquutus: Annoying, but valid, I suppose. I just ignore what I don't like.
POvidiusNaso: Other - boring.
cluegirl: nothing wrong with geeks trying to get their game on!
Trenton: Abuse.
dkwd: Haven't come across any yet - not sure of all the protocols yet.
erwinrd: Yes, but people will do whatever is necessary and possible if they're collectors of any sort. Humanity loves to bend the rules until they break...
MaksimSmelchak: I've no problem with that practice.
scriptorum: I don't think they should be published to the main page, but otherwise I have no issue with them.
bigbadsteve: i am indifferent
SisyphusX: Does the practice bother me? Nope. As long as they head the lists appropriately, it doesn't bother anyone, really.
janiera: Valid use of system
brainrob: Waste of a good list
Dorque: 2
Nekura: Eh, not that valid, but then again people aren't really using the trade system hence the need.
Chris Page: Rather boring lists to skip over. As long as they're labelled in the header, though, they're easy enough to avoid at their current frequency level.
Bahamut-X: valid
Favre4MVP: There's a trade section now, so it doesn't matter anymore.
LemonyFresh: Rather lame.
Cavedog_pdx: I'm sure we can count on some of the more anal geeks to tell such users what they really should be doing ;)
Tushratta: It seems valid to me. If I didn't like it, I would view the GeekList.
jellospike: Boring use of lists.
ssmooth: Well, it's not what Geeklists originally looked like turning out to be, but people are desperate to communicate with others. If the Geeklists are what's highlighted on the front page, naturally that's where people are going to go in hopes of being heard. I heard Aldie say he liked that Geeklists have been commandeered for all these goofy, trivial purposes, so apparently there we are. Now if we just had a prominent place for game commentary.
GuyHill: whatever works for you. I dont look at GLs I have no interest in
Longbow: GeekLists have lost their appeal recently. Trade lists have been partly responsible, IMO, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
skrutsch: I don't really care.
kennyb: abuse!
MisterCranky: Never Answer! Oh wait, who cares, I'll answer: Never care!
Lord_Prussian: A little bit of both
Mike A: Fine with me. No one forces me to read them. At least not yet.
chaddyboy_2000: I don't care what people use Geeklists for. If they want to use them for trading, they can use them for trading.
sourwyrm: words...
puffinge: I don't think that's how GeekLists are supposed to be used.
jttm: Other
CDRodeffer: I think it's valid, but they should be tagged as such under a separate tab, and not on the main page.
Spielfreak: It's borderline abuse, inasmuch as it circumvents the cut that BGG gets from the marketplace.
skelebone: I'm quite against users creating Geeklists solely for the purpose of getting their own games up for trade, because trade utilities are already in place on the system, either via Marketplace, the Trade Utility, or through the Trade Forums.
