¿Question #4011?
dietevil: How long would you be willing to live apart from your significant other for career reasons? What would you do while you were apart that you couldn't do when they were around?
scriptorum: Tough question. I suppose if it made a lot of sense and it was something she wanted, I would tolerate up to three months. Any longer than that sounds like bad news. In that time period I would play more games and talk to myself more loudly at home.
Straight To Hell: About 4 years. I'd go paintballing.
fivecats: none
Roosterfish: lots of variables but I'd say no more than a year, longer if I could hire a French maid (kidding honey)
lisa68m: It would be negotiable depending on how limited contact would be. Like I EVEN have a significant other! I would sleep more.
chockle: one week. wife has a thing against blonde hookers.
POvidiusNaso: Several weeks. A lot of things.
DHEK: Probably for a few years. I've done it once and I can do it again. I'd probably keep in touch through e-mails mostly. And I'd come back at least every year if I could.
aleo09: a week
MisterCranky: My last overseas stint was 13 months, we barely missed each other, although we did break it up a little.
ZiggyZambo: probably a month... nothing really.
tagger418: 6 Months (if the money was right [$250k+]). I could relax, eat right and work out.
asahetter: Well I'm willing to try two years at the moment, as we are going to different graduate schools. I probably would go out more than I used to. I always felt bad leaving her at home as I was the social butterfly and she was the shy hide in her room and work kind. But that's changing.
Csigs: Explain this "significant other" part for me, please ...
Philip Thomas: I don't have one...
vampywife: yikes, i'm never willing to live apart from my love, but sometimes we have to. i will stick by him no matter how long it would take. as for what i can do without him here, well, i can stay up late and answer these silly questions :)
janiera: Never...
Cromaa: No SO
Wave1921: 3 months; tour the region.
chad56s: Tough question. Maybe a couple of weeks. I would spend the time away picking lint out of my bellybutton. She hates when I do that.
jasta6: A week or two, nothing........................
Helenoftroy: I would not live apart at all!
brainrob: 2 nights is enough - any longer is not worth it. Now an Essen trip is a different story ...
Platinum Dragon: I don't think I'd place career over my love-life like that, but of course, I wouldn't really know for sure 'till it came up.
mrspank: 7 years. Meet other women.
skrutsch: one year, monopolize the computer
Randy Cox: 2 nights (well, maybe 3). I'd sleep poorly and want to be home.
puffinge: I live this.
Mike A: Maybe 1 week. I'd fish more.
GrandpaDave: I don't have a SO
djlg: 6 months. Play more games.
mrbeankc: Not long and I'd eat at a few resteraunts she doesn't like.
chaddyboy_2000: I've been apart from my gf for 5 years, until about 3 months ago when I moved to where she lives, so I'm just getting used to being together! It's great!
CDRodeffer: One day, and miss her terribly.
ValJor: It depends on her mood. Right now, I could spend a year apart... Other times, I wouldn't want to be a weekend away. As for what I would do, it also depends on her mood.
jttm: Done that. Not more than a few months.
skelebone: I might be able to live apart from her for several months. Were she not around, I would probably be a lot more messy and arrange more game evenings.
Lord_Prussian: A few months I suppose. Not really that much different.
Dave: First Q: No longer than two weeks, now that we have a young child. Second Q: weekend PC gaming marathons.
