I think it is meaningful if you wake up smiling because you wake up beside that special someone. It's meaningful when you hate to be apart, even for a moment, for fear that you will never experience that moment with them, but you are still capable of being apart when you have to be. It's meaningful when you can compromise about things you are different on and can encourage each other to grow and become better people.
