¿Question #4052?
Cavedog_pdx: Why is it that anytime I buy a new game, read the rules, figure out how to play, and then teach my friends I always manage to screw up some of the rules?
Jrtolf: Because you're human.
Ladybug3: It is inevitable, happens to all of us
Willward: It's gotta be your friends' fault. First rule of life -- figure out how to blame stuff on others.
Jbrady: That happens in almost all new games, its just a trial stage until you get use to the game.
Jayolas: Are you sure you know how to read?
ajax013: because you
Felimid: Moi aussi. Welcome to real life.
MisterCranky: Many thanks to Tim Synge for directing me to this question, and its utterly namby-pamby set of answers. The reason, Mr. _pdx, is that you care. If you were able to in some way distance yourself from the experience you anticipate having while reading the rules, you could actually concentrate on them, and apply the basic elements of human understanding. Sadly, you focus far too much on details that detract from your ability to "learn" the "rules" and, through the gratuitous use of quotation marks, you find yourself mired in a harsh reality of your own devising, long before it's ever time to realistically depart the plane of common sense. Plus, you are, as has already been pointed out, a moron. But the good kind--the kind we all aspire to be.
Spirit of 70: You take it all too quickly. Slow down.
Jatoha: I do the same thing. I wish someone else could teach a new game to me for once, just once.
Nikku: You can't fit it all in your pea sized brain. ;)
mileser: You're a semi-involved (and I do mean involved) simian...?
tankexmortis: Because the brain doesn't assimilate knowledge immediately (at least, not most people's brains); it needs practice.
Hendal: the nature of the beast
Randy Cox: I guess you're a f*ck up, no?
Chris Page: You have a reputation to maintain.
Aardvarkius: You're human
heli: I dunno; need more data. :)
Thegreatrob: it happens to everyone
dogzard: you're human
TheKeck: Games are complex.
autumnweave: Because we have to tease you about something. If you'd play more wargames you'd be more comfortable with not having all the rules down.
bungeeboy: Happens to the best of us.
DHEK: That's normal - happens to most of us, I'm sure. It's just because there are so many new things to explain and learn and so since it's the first few times we're playing the game of course one can expect some things to get mixed up.
Schlupp: I do the same thing! Luckily the game works anyway (most of the times). Unfortunately I don't know why you do that. But if someone has the answer please contact me. I'd like to know as well. :)
themagni: Are you illiterate? That would do it.
elirlandes: Because that is the way of things.
aleo09: ur not the only one
bigbadsteve: cause you hate your friends?
onky: Because you're a moron...
2amp: that's why everyone should read the rules before play. i wish my group would...
ibemichael: As do we all, my friend
dakyon: I do that when I'm in a hurry to play . . .
Son of Murray: Because game designers hate you.
nerotora: It's part of our human nature. It happens to all of us (I guess...)
ZombyDawg: And then they accuse you of doing it on purpose just to mess them up?
vampywife: murphy's law :)
ZiNOS: Because you are very anxious to play the game and not RTFM?
Avatar_69: Rampant stupidity can never be fully ruled out
WatchmanX2000: repeat after me... I am human. Humans err. I am human therefor I will err.
Helenoftroy: I do too. You can't fully understand something until you know how to put the concepts within its contexts.
skrutsch: 'Cause it's hard.
SteveK2: I think most of us do that
scriptorum: Who doesn't screw up rules? Oo, that's also another gauge for game "lightness" -- how many rules do you screw up on your first playing?
Favre4MVP: Make yourself a cheat sheet of rules you think you might forget.
LemonyFresh: I can't answer that for you, sorry!
Ebon Wendigo: Reality is imperfect in every aspect, of which you are one.
Cyberjunk: Because you are too eager to play. Read them twice.
KompaNanzi: Because you're a perfectionist
javelin98: 'Cause you're just like me.
djlg: Lack of attention to detail. It also helps to solo through a turn or two before teaching a game.
GrandpaDave: I dunno, but we all do
CherryPie: I am glad its not just me that happens to. I try to get a quick crib sheet of BGG or write on myself to make it a bit easier.
CharlieWonka: That's Life
ssmooth: Probably mainly because it's difficult to understand all the rules until you actually see the game happening.
erli: Join the dakarp club.
Thedalek: Because you forget what it was like not to know.
POvidiusNaso: When you figure it out, tell me why, too.
Lord_Prussian: I dunno, but I do the same thing, sometimes the screw ups linger through many plays
chaddyboy_2000: You probably have Scott Reed syndrome.
Legend Dan: You suck, man. Sorry. Best to let others teach.
skelebone: You and I both, brother. I've always said, that a game is not a game unless I get some rules wrong.
CDRodeffer: That happens to almost everyone. Make a set of cue cards, and ask your friends to grade your performance.
puffinge: underwear distraction
CortexBomb: Because you're not a silicon machine?
Spielfreak: You're not alone.
jttm: Your friends are attractive girls?
