¿Question #4103?
puffinge: When you receive an unsolicited gift in the mail (like address labels) with a request for a donation, what do you usually do?

ocdspectrum: If it’s St. Jude’s we often donate.
xofour: give it to my wife. I have better things to do with my life than open something that looks like a bill.
Tunicate: Use them if I like them. I do not feel any need to donate.
Mozai: Recycle bin.
Spirit of 70: Toss it all.
kathleenryan: It depends on the organization. If I believe in what they are doing I donate to them.
Woelf: Keep the labels, then put them somewhere safe so I completely forget about them until years later when I move and the address is no longer valid.
DasViktor: Keep the labels, ditch the donation envelope. Remember: you only have to donate once to have address labels for life. Heh, heh...suckers!
arkibet: throw them away in the recycling bin
jessitron: keep the address labels or the nickel, trash the rest. No since wasting even more paper.
Wabete: no
JesterKnot: Use the labels, recycle the rest.
jdberry: No guilt--I didn't ask for the stuff. If you like the charity, donate to them by other means than the "convenient" envelope inside. Usually it's commercial companies running these solicitations and they skim an obscene % (80 - 90+) of the money.
MadBrad: Use the gift, and send nothing.
Schaumy81: nope
2amp: trash
vandemonium: Take the labels and pitch the rest. Their problem not mine.
Shijuro: If the labels are decent, I set them aside for use. I don't base my donations on them, but I do respond to some mail solicitations for donations (and never phone solicitations).
Blott: Keep the gift, throw the rest away.
Diamat: Wish that we didn't waste so many resources on junk mail as I put it in the shredder and recycle it.
El Hidalgo: Keep the labels. We precommit to certain charities and causes and stick to those.
matthan: I use them, but I don't donate.
gypsychk: Keep the gift, shred the solicitation.
gwanion: Never had this happen
Ebon Wendigo: Toss it
DHEK: Keep the items regardless, unless there is a SASE and request for return of the items. If I feel like donating, I will, but I do not at any time feel obligated to do so.
CardboardCultist: giggle sardonically. Then send 200 letters requesting more labels. Build fort out of labels when they arrive.
Sifu: Use those labels, baby! Going to university is finally paying off!
bigbadsteve: use the labels, toss the rest.
unixrevolution: I think to myself they'd get more donations if they sent the labels AFTER you gave them money. The last set were rather girly so i don't think i'd want to pay for them anyhow.
_Kael_: I never do.
alligata: I laugh at their audacity and mail them back a small piece of my diseased and rambunctious colon
powwowdancer: Sad to say, I use it even though I don't donate.
scriptorum: I toss the address labels, because they usually contain some sentiment I can't imagine myself saying. But then I cut out and reuse the stamps they put on the return envelope to try and guilt me into donating. Hey, waste not, want not...
chockle: No donation, but I use the labels.
Nils: Toss it.
clesiemo3: Toss it.
Cut & Space: Stick it on my knee
CraftyShafty: Feed my shredder.
jasta6: toss everything but the lables................................
vampywife: i usually feel guilty and send money, but if i get several near the same time, i draw the line.
Cromaa: Throw them away
Dorque: Keep gift. Pitch solicitation.
GameCat: Bin it.
joebelanger: I use 'em and shake my head at the dumb suckers. Don't they know how cheap I am?
ronster0: you get them cause you donated
brainrob: Pass it on to a charity shop
WatchmanX2000: throw out the request, enjoy the gift.
confuse_a_cat: Keep the gift if I want it, ignore the request for a donation unless I was going to donate to them anyway
LemonyFresh: Toss or shred
xandryyte: I usually keep the labels, if I like them. Anything else is likely to be crap and is thrown out.
billgoode: Throw it away.
Great Dane: I never accept unsolicited mail
MDettmer81: Haven't had that happen, really.
xlorp: Oh no, it's Mr. Shredder!
javelin98: Use the labels and throw the rest away
Karlsen: Return it (which you can do in this country)
djlg: Mark it "unknown at this address" and send it back.
GrandpaDave: Throw away the leetter, keep the adress labels. They come in handy, and I'm a poor college student.
Tushratta: Throw them away
dakarp: Usually throw it away. Sometimes I keep the gift. The gift never affects whether I donate money.
ssmooth: Use the address labels if I like them, donate if I feel like it.
POvidiusNaso: Keep the labels and after a brief pang of guilt, throw the rest away.
skrutsch: Keep the gift, throw out the request.
obob: depends on the cause. I send a few bucks to the Disabled American Veterans when I can. Almost all others can go p--- up a rope.
puffinge: keep the labels, throw everything else away. No donation for you!
relic10: It depends on who's asking for money...sometimes donate, sometimes chuck it all. I only keep the labels if I donate, though.
jttm: Mail it back.
skelebone: Keep the labels, throw the rest away.
Lord_Prussian: Keep the labels and throw away the rest.
CortexBomb: Toss the whole thing, actually, I usually wouldn't even know...anything that looks vaguely like junk gets the toss immediately
chaddyboy_2000: Use the labels.
Spielfreak: We keep the mailing labels. Who else is gonna use them? We used to feel guilty about this, but we do give to many charities, so if others want to give to us we're fine with that.
CDRodeffer: Well, they already sent them....
