¿Question #4195?
mrbeankc: Would you rather use dice or cards as a game randomizer?
PolarDad: cards
Jrtolf: Dice, usually.
Pleco: Dice, dice, dice.
pensfan82: Both
ocdspectrum: Both.
Zenithsplendor: Cards
BOBBYCAN: Neither is really random. That die roll or card is coming your way and there's no way you can stop it.
Blazur: Dice.
maytheodds: Cards
RichardGSmith: Dice if you want excitement, cards if you want to more closely control the outcome, and cats if you want all the board game pieces to end up in the floor.
dpep13: Cards. The gamut of interesting randomized effects is far greater than with simple numbers.
Don T: Dice in general. Cards where the outcome holds more varied information.
SommeGrandads: Both.
Embark: I prefer dice.
weed131: dice
Woelf: Both have their advantages - it depends on what is being randomized and how the rest of the game deals with it.
Spirit of 70: Dice.
MisterCranky: I prefer buckshot
pwilz: It would depend on whether or not I wanted replacement.
teg2: Let me flip a coin to answer this question ...
Wolfenstad Manuel: Dice by far.
Paschae: Cards, they give more flavor and chances.
mintylish: dice
kathleenryan: dice
Chris Page: Spinners.
scriptorum: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/question/3703
BobbyChicken: Dice if it's a war game. Otherwise cards.
1000rpm: Dice. Quicker.
Hector Vortac: dice
tipigi: dice
travellerne: dice
DHEK: Cards. They aren't as random as dice. But if it's for a fast game, dice are better.
adreeve: Dice.
aleo09: no difference to me
Grungydan: Dice.
talrich: I like dice most of the time.
MadGonzo: depends. do you want finite or infinite combinations?
minordemon: cards
roo414: cards
diehard4life: cards
Yourgames: probably cards
tagger418: Depends on the game and the dice
suncrush: dice
pablito76: cards, they are far less random in the long run
XanderF: Dice. Shuffling cards all the time = cumulatively a waste of time.
bigbadsteve: dice
smolivert: both
Numskull: Cards, because the same card can't get drawn over and over again without some other ones being drawn as well.
hacksword: Dice; they're more compact
zeketbp999: cards
chockle: doesn't matter as long as the dice have bad memories
Innocent Bystander: dice
igorl: Dice
Vashalla: Dice, just because I'm tabletop RPGer at heart.
fredjet: cards
residue: No difference.
TheDS: dice are more convenient, but cards WILL see every possibility chosen by the time the deck runs out. So it depends on how bad my CRS (can't roll for shirt) is afflicting me at that moment.
LemonyFresh: Dice
Young David: Cards (I suck at dices)
Karlsen: Depends on the situation. I'm happy with a bit of both
JohnnyD: depends on the game
jellospike: dice are better. I only prefer cards when they show info too large to put on a dice (such as text)
Loquutus: Depends on the game.
vetinari7878: Cards.
ssmooth: Either one is fine if used appropriately.
ZombyDawg: no preference
xlorp: Depends on what kind of distributions I want
Larry Chong: probably cards but it really depends upon the design.
rrc1230: Dice.
GuyHill: for liars dice: dice. For Hannibal: cards
Belash: dice
Cerebus: Cards. Fewer bits to lose.
Salt-Man Z: Dice.
skrutsch: don't care
jttm: Cards
Lord_Prussian: Cards if they add to the theme of the game. Dice, otherwise.
chaddyboy_2000: Dice.
CDRodeffer: Dominos.
skelebone: I think dice are easy, though I do get pissed at them when they don't roll my way.
CortexBomb: Cards, because card randomness can be mitigated by schemes such as the Princes of Florence draw 5 pick 1 thing, and becaue the deck becomes less random as the game goes (assuming it's not shuffled)
puffinge: dice don't like me.
Spielfreak: cards. Dice are mean to me.
