¿Question #437?
Flyspeck23: Do you like dungeon crawl boardgames (HeroQuest etc.)? Why (not)?
BOBBYCAN: Maybe. They seem popular.
oldhoss: Not as much as I used to. Although Claustrophobia is still at the top of my list.
Woelf: Yes. They're usually very fun and themey.
Auramine O: I think I would love them but haven't gotten in deep with one.
bcooperok: No. They feel too much like virginity enforcing D&D.
ricardofo: yes. It is challenging
baronkohinar: I like them better the less rules / the less balanced they are. For some reason I find balanced dungeon crawl games very boring.
cgund: Have never played any.
AdrianPHague: Yeah, Dungeon Twister is fun!
gmcash: yes, i like the unexplored
Isolde_deely: yes
tawnos76: Yes, coes from playing D&D before getting into boardgames
POvidiusNaso: Not really. They tend to be collectable.
Numskull: If they're well done, sure. HeroQuest is not well done. 2d6 for movement kills it.

Azzarc: Yup
slagbeast: sometimes

ThatFalafelGirl: haven't really played any. alas.
_Kael_: Think I do, but haven't played enough to give a solid answer.
mpw182: i would thing so, never played one
pkreynolds: Yes. The theme appeals to me, there's a clear goal, lots of action, and usually loads of cool loot to collect. Also, many such games have co-op play mechanics, which I like.
Leo-T: yes
scriptorum: They're ok, especially if you get folks who roleplay a little and get into it.
heavymetalhamster: Yes, because I'm just a big kid at heart and also I enjoy them
bigbadsteve: i havent played many, but i liked the ones i played
starscream: yes, if in the right mood

dlesage: Nah, too repetitive.
Cromaa: Love them
vampywife: i like HeroQuest, it was one of the first non-family board games i ever played, so it was interesting to me.
Dorque: Yup. More tactical the better. Instant gratification of treasure cards, and love the theme.
wretchedw: I love dungeon crawls above practically all else, because they provide more satisfying monster-killing, loot-gathering, and levelling than a "real" RPG in a shorter time.
LeeMiester: Yes . Fun to play with the kids but not with my gaming buddies . Even though the gaming buddies grew up on D&D like me ..and thats the reason I like them is the close similarity to D&D (just not as expansive).
CunningGabe: HeroQuest rules!
AngusBull: yep, It's got to beee all those fantasy and sci fi book I read
aceraxon: Sometimes, it really depends on the system of the game. A quick hack and slash isn't all that fun, you want to feel like you're accomplishing something.

Evil HummingBird: lots of surprizes i guess

snoozefest: don't know - haven't played many
Denise: Yes, it's a weakness
jens_hoppe: In general, no I don't. These games generally emphasize theme over gameplay, which is not to my liking.

ynnen: Heck yeah. The fun, cooperation and advancement of an RPG with lighter rules and timeframe
PopeBrain: Yes. The fun of roleplaying games without the unfun of roleplaying games.
viogression: Yes/No. They're a quick replacement for RPGs/they're TOO quick.
shumyum: Usually, if there is sufficient player interaction.
jdroscha: I like the idea of them, but don't like any of them in particular.
echoota: Yes, too little time for real RPGs
CDRodeffer: No, I think they limit the role-playing experience.
