pwilz: Occasionally, but most people take only a passing interest in my hobby when I talk to them about it. Some folks have purchased Apples to Apples on my suggestion and play testing.

MamaRat: Yep. I have a publisher doc full of photos and descriptions, taken from BGG, of nine games likely to meet a noob's gateway needs. I include all the details about game length, age minimum, number of players, and mechanics, so they can decide for themselves what suits their needs. Party game (Bang!), abstract (Tsuro or Ingenious), themed but light (Coloretto, Guillotine, Bohnanza), a bit more produced with more involved play (TTR, Carcassonne, Settlers). If anybody would like the document, just geekmail me and let me know if you'd like it as a publisher doc or a pdf, and I'll send it to you.
