¿Question #4447?
Legend Dan: If the goal of all creatures is to be happy, and I'm happier than you, can we therefore conclude that I am more successful in life than you are?
Woelf: Really dumb people can be really happy because they're oblivious to everything.
delinear: That depends. If I say yes will the gap get even wider?
imyourskribe: i don't think that's an accurate assumption for the goal of all creatures. the goal of all creatures, if you ask me, is to copulate and pass on genetic material. at any rate, i have no kids yet, so you may have me beat there.
AndyHowell: Actually, yes.
ZiggyZambo: That or luckier
Tadpoleface: Knowing you are happy affords me contentment with my lot which in turn confers unto me happiness, but is it greater than yours?
sim1: my happiness is unlimited
matthew.marquand: No
WatchmanX2000: no.
FNH1: Yes that is logical.
vandemonium: Only if you are a clam
tada: Success might be better defined as how happy you make others feel.
Thundergoat: As a logic statement, possibly. But happiness is subjective, so I'd say no.
DHEK: According to your standards, yes. But then I can also create an arbitrary standard like whoever has more pez dispensers is more successful in life and then I'd probably be at the bottom of the heap (maybe you too, I hope).
Meat: no.
TheArchAngel: no, I have been at rock bottom. but I made it up to the position that I was happy and comfortable with. Just since its not a 6-figure job a year, doesn't mean I can't be happy
clandaith: Nope.
POvidiusNaso: If that's the logical construct you've chosen, then I suppose you're right.
cubeblue: for now
dsmeyer: I find it hard to believe that you are happier, but if that is true than yes
alligata: If the goal in your life is to prove you are better than me , in this ghastly wheelchair, then by all means pat yourself on the back, hank.
Ebon Wendigo: But you're not
Chris Page: No, because that wouldn't make me happier.
GrimJester: The initial clause has flaws.
LarryHerene: No you may just be blind to your true condition. Think of someone about to find out that they are wrong about an important fact (about to be fireed, dumped, devorced, robbed etc.)
produceguy1765: yes, if that was the only goal
rawdawg: i guess
szilaj: Don't know. Here's 20 bucks.
nerotora: Difficult to tell. How do you measure happiness? Momentarily or as a sum of happy moments? Don't you have to wait till the person dies before you measure the score?
prolifekilledmywife: But what about on average? Are junkies therefore alternately the most and least successful people in the world?
JediDragon: But you are not happier than me : )
Cut & Space: Perfect conclusion, now go away you happy face!!!
SisyphusX: Nope. Self-awareness is tricky. We need an independent judge of happiness.
Russ G.: Unless my goal is to be unsuccessful. Or unless your goal is to ask germane questions. Or unless you think logic is an important function in rational thought.
Dorque: Nope.
fulgor2140: no, its the opposit
MisterCranky: Of course not. The fallacy in that argument should be obvious even to you.
vampywife: possibly, yes. but that wouldn't happen cause i'm sure i'm happier, hehe.
Avatar_69: Perhaps. It may instead mean that you take more drugs than I do
ronster0: Do you take Prozac?
scriptorum: I know where you live. Cease this happiness immediately.
Bahamut-X: Nope
Platinum Dragon: If the goal of all creatures is to be happy, and ignorance is bliss, then insects and other near-mindless creatures are the most successfull of all. Therefore, based on these assuptions, the quickest path to success is a lobotomy. =P
confuse_a_cat: Even starting with such a questionable assumption, we can't reach this conclusion since we haven't defined what it means to be "successful" nor have we decided the criteria for being more or less successful than another person.
Zambo: You're assuming that the goal of all creatures is to be happy. That's an erroneous assumption.
Megadev: sure, but that is assuming quite a bit
LemonyFresh: Sure
kinetic: yep
jasta6: No. it would still be relitive................
djlg: Yes. If all of that were true.
skrutsch: Umm.....yeah.
Syrion: Nope.
Ebonwoulfe: Maybe you're just a rat
Cavedog_pdx: Uhhh sure okay have another valium.
Mark Smith: Yes, that would about sum it up.
jttm: I'm still taller.
archduke: If you want to. What color is the sky in the world you live in?
puffinge: quite an assumption you start with there. my goal is to not be miserable.
GrandpaDave: No
pmartel60: Whatever makes you happy.
CDRodeffer: I don't believe you when you pre-suppose that the goal of all creatures is to be happy.
Lord_Prussian: No
CortexBomb: If your first assumption is taken to be true, as you force, then yes
Spielfreak: No. Happiness is a relative thing. Success has other attributes besides happiness.
chaddyboy_2000: I guess you could, but I have considerably different goals than you.
skelebone: You could, but you would be basing it on a faulty presumption.
