¿Question #4536?
meshuggener: Just how do you "brominate" vegetable oil?
Varduk: no it's aboninate
Woelf: First repaint the bottle to your favorite pastel color, then paint a rainbow or flowers or something like that on the side. Then you try to convince everyone else that you actually do enjoy it that way and that you're not just enjoying it ironically or doing it to prove some point that never needed to be made. Oh, wait, nevermind. That's how you bronie it, not bromiate.
pricero1: As vegetable oil has double bonds, it is very easily brominated with elemental bromine. What puzzles me, is why you would wish to do so? Bit of a drastic way to prevent fires whilst deep-fat frying.
purplewurple: Give it a baseball cap, a lifted truck and a red plastic cup filled with alcohol and shout 'WHOOOOOO! YEAHHH! PARTYYYYY!' at it.
Spirit of 70: I do not know.
arkibet: dunno - but I probably should.
dogzard: ?
POvidiusNaso: With a sea horse and a pair of used tongs.
elirlandes: With bromine.
DHEK: What's "brominate" anyway?
Gecko23: Add bromine to it. Makes it easier to emulsify. And bromine itself is toxic, as are many compounds containing it. Cool huh?
ZiggyZambo: no idea
captpackrat: Pervert.
ryokowerx: Mix it with LOTS of seawater (which contains 85ppm bromine)?
dmomo: Search me.
bigbadsteve: in the brominator
ArmHead: First, you need a weasel. Second, you need jar of mayonaise. Third, do what come naturally.
MisterCranky: Bromination is a mysterious process, but here, let me draw this diagram on the whiteboard for you....
MaksimSmelchak: I have no idea... never heard the term before... sounds like brocolli or bromide?
fastfingers: ask my wife
ct_cruiser: with ha brominater
Tushratta: 1. Drink a large glass of vegetable oil, 2. Swallow a tablespoon of Ipecac, 3. "Brominate" all the vegetable oil into a porcelain receptacle, 4. Flush
brainrob: Don't know - don't care
Favre4MVP: With a funnel and a spatula.
scriptorum: I don't. I leave it to the professionals.
SgtTodd: Ye mix it with Bromite
Loquutus: Add bromine.
richdknows: very carefully
djlg: With bromide.
erli: Add bromine
CDRodeffer: Vegetable oil is usually a weak fatty acid, so an acid-base reaction with HBr is fairly straightforward. If it's something else, like a long chain hydrocarbon, you could use Br2 in a sort of Dieles-Alder type reaction.
skelebone: Add bromine or a bromine compound?
chaddyboy_2000: Hmmm, I dunno.
jttm: You add bromin to it?
Lord_Prussian: I try not to
