rootbeer: I was going to say "cedilla," but then that made me think of my 8th grade French teacher. She -- a dumpy, mid-30's stick-in-the-mud -- and I -- a bright, opinionated young lad -- differed on the correct pronunciation of several French words. I think she grew up with a different dialect than the one I learned. Anyway, never mind that French was her first language -- she was obviously wrong! This progressed to the point that, unbeknownst to me, she was planning to permanently kick me out of the class. Simultaneously, I was growing tired of her intractable nature, and jumped ship for Band class. It worked out in the end: I found out that I'm a minor musical prodigy. (But, unfortunately, the lazy kind. You know, content to give it 20% and be "quite good" rather than the full 100% for "astounding.") Sorry, what was the question? Oh, yeah. Um... how about the Scandinavian "O-with-slash-through-it"? Those are kind of cool looking.
