¿Question #4584?
Gialmere: True Life Gaming: Have you ever, before the game begins, conspired with other players to knock off a certain player first just to teach that player a lesson?

Auramine O: No. But I've conspired to knock off a certain player for kicks before. It was all in good fun.
Cariba: Never...after all those are just games and everyone should have fun ^^
kkoene: yep
Avaru: No
rseater: No, but it's been done to me.
Woelf: Yes, but the game was BSG and the lesson was "don't be a Cylon". It didn't take.
Randy Cox: I doubt I have as an adult.
Rygel: Not yet
dcooley: Yes, in Diplomacy many many years ago. The player in question was bragging that he always won the game, and in college you know how *that* ends...
Der Ubermolch: Of course. I'm a Diplomcay player.
Hendal: no, but It happens against me all the time, not sure to teach me a lesson, but to let the others have a chance of winning
TheBannister: I don't have that many people to play games with! :-(
daveroswell: Yup.
2amp: no, never *whistles tunelessly* wouldn't do that...
Narlgoth: Who hasn't? >:- D
ldkoehler: Yes. Especially in Diplomacy which lends itself to such behavior.
malshadow: Never.
Numskull: No, but I'm pretty sure it's been done to me.
BuddhaPhi: With glee my friends, with glee
scriptorum: No, unless you count Diplomacy, but not to teach a lesson (only because it was my best chance of getting an early leader with the farthest player on the board). However, I played with a guy who sort of auto-colluded each game. This guy didn't play to win, he just played to make me lose. He admitted it, too, during the games. Consequently I was never more than 2nd in any game he joined. Very bizarre.
aleo09: yes
Imploded: never
Goldyn Gryphon: Yes.
Doodlemonkie: No. Doesn't really sound like my kind of game...
Hector Vortac: yes. also done the opposite; conspire to make some loser win.
Keonyn: No, but have had other players do that to me
gsilva: Jawohl
DHEK: Nope. The people I play with are a sport and don't resort to conniving things like this.
aanemesis: Not intentionally.
matthewjhoskins: No.
clesiemo3: heh heh heh yes... erm I mean no (for the record no, but off the record yes)
Brentoon: naturally
nm156: No
UhhhClem: What lesson would that be? "Don't play games with us, we're assholes."
dmomo: No
ZiggyZambo: no
kelmit: Of course!
vampywife: not for real, but we have in jest.
Russ G.: No.
fulgor2140: once i tried and when the game started they all went against me, as usual
pattonre: Yes
falloutfan: No - Even if I was pissed at them.
arkibet: yes
wargamer66: No, but have done that in Diplomacy once the game has started
mlanza: A friend suggested this to me last week, but I played as usual.
bigbadsteve: yes
brainrob: No
Dr.Octopus: Every single day in the summer of 1987, playing Risk, against the same friend, not for a lesson. Just for fun!
Felicity: No, wouldn't so it either. in game maybe but not before
stephensj23: Y.
LemonyFresh: No
richdknows: yes
billgoode: I was playing Diplomacy once with my brother and two cousins. My brother and one of my cousins and I conspired pretty damned early to gang up on the other cousin, just because we knew that it would really piss him off. Ah to be 12 again...
Loquutus: no
POvidiusNaso: Nope. If I did, it would backfire.
mgringo: No. If I did, I would betray everyone else.
djlg: No
javelin98: No
mrbeankc: no
CherryPie: No.
puzzleme: No.
puffinge: Shouldn't these be True Gaming Confessions? Gialmere, hit us with a question that's not yes or no.
jttm: Nope
Lord_Prussian: During, but not before
chaddyboy_2000: No.
skelebone: I did once conspire before a game of Risk 2210, only to find out later that the other players had also conspired against me while I was away. I think I still ended up winning that one.
CDRodeffer: Not that I recall.
CortexBomb: In a roundabout way. Years ago I gamed with a guy who was at that point in time a good friend of mine. We used to play Risk semi-regularly, and this guy absolutely could never take defeat in any context without getting pissy, doubly so in Risk. This led to an unspoken agreement on the part of the people I gamed with to go for his throat at the first sign of whining just to knock him out of the game so we didn't have to hear about it anymore
Spielfreak: no, that's meanspirited and has no place at my gaming sessions.
