¿Question #4668?
Lord_Prussian: How big a deal is it when a game box has a split corner? Is it as bad as a hangnail?

ocdspectrum: Exactly that bad
pricero1: It is sad, but life goes on.
Felimid: Not a big deal, as long as the innards are in good condition.
Jorage: Gah, I cringe at the thought. At least I know a hangnail will eventually get better on its own. A split corner is sullied forever.
metalchorus: Big deal...as bad as a hangnail.
vandemonium: My copy of Carc Hunters and Gatherers has a box that is beyond horrific. It bothers me, but I did get it cheap and the game components are fine. So... meh.
Woelf: It depends on the game, who caused it, the severity, and whether it was accidental or not.
Spirit of 70: It's not that big a deal.
jessitron: Not a big deal at all. Now, if MisterCranky has a hangnail, watch out!
atrium: no
Fairer Sex: Worse. A hangnail will go away on its own.
Polgara: not that big
Numskull: Nothing is worse than a hangnail. My hatred of hangnails burns like a thousand suns.
Rliyen: Not a big deal, although I wish it wouldn't happen.
Grungydan: Not that big a deal, you can glue and tape it. About equal, I'd say.
matthan: Worse.
DHEK: It depends. If it's a copy for playing purposes then the split corner isn't so bad and you can just tape it back. If it's a rare copy or a copy you intend to keep (something collectors do - I wouldn't know), then I suppose it's more serious. As to whether it's as bad as a hangnail, I suppose also it depends on how important you feel keeping your nails specially manicured are.
Blacknightjj: no
ben21: no, tape fixes everything
POvidiusNaso: I don't really care. So long as scotch tape still exists.
dmomo: Not bad. No
OneTinSoldier: Not a big deal. Tape works better on a box than a finger.
tdabomb: worse than a hangnail
darcyj2: Just tape it up...the game is still playable.
Big BabOOn: no problem
brainrob: It's no big deal
mrspank: It's not a big deal.
javelin98: Not bad. Just tape it. (The box, not the hangnail).
Mordachai: It's bad, but I can live with it... now, if the game components are chipped on the other hand...
mlanza: It would bug me. I prefer keeping my games in excellent shape.
patrick95350: No. Hangnails totally suck. Especially when you don't have aany nail clippers with you.
WatchmanX2000: irritating, but fixable
TMJJS: no
jasta6: Not unless it's your favorite game....................
shizzane: Pretty sad.
bigbadsteve: not a big deal to me, although i do try to take care of my games
rawdawg: Yeah, cuz eventually the whole cover will fall off
LemonyFresh: Yes, yes
the_spy: Not so bad, as long as the game itself doesn't miss any piece
aramis: An annoyance unless the damage was caused by carelessness, rather than age, use and travel wear.
skrutsch: Not very big. Nope.
scriptorum: It's no big deal. Just tape it up and don't worry about it. It's the game itself that's important.
Loquutus: not at all
puffinge: 6.5, where 10 is really bad. A hangnail is 7.5
BoboDaHobo: It's a tad irritating, but not really an issue IMO.
consolewa: Depends on the game. My copy of Risk is almost completely destroyed and it bothers me not one whit. Now, if my Eon Cosmic box went to pot, well...
djlg: Not much. No way.
GI Joe: Depends on if it's a new game or not
jttm: I just tape it
Lord_Prussian: It's pretty darned annoying. I keep meaning to try out that supposedly nifty repair method. Hangnails heal on their own, so they're not as bad generally.
chaddyboy_2000: It depends on how old the game is. I'd be kind of upset of any of my new games tore.
CDRodeffer: I can fix either.
CortexBomb: It's not a big deal at all, as it can be fixed with tape. I think I would be more bent out of shape if the game was trade fodder, but I generally am careful with games that I think might get traded, so the issue hasn't come up yet
Spielfreak: It's worse than a hangnail.
skelebone: Split corners are annoying, but hangnails are painful.
