¿Question #4690?
Gialmere: True Life Gaming: During a game, have you ever implemented what you thought was a brilliant strategy only to have your ass handed to you on a platter by the other player(s)?

BOBBYCAN: Hasn't everybody?
MD1616: Oh yes...
Felimid: Yes. Especially during games of "Land Unter" (aka "Turn the Tide").
viper34j: Daily. The game's Dominion and the other player is my Wife...
Caerid: Yulp
Aardvarkius: More times than I can remember
dove: Yar
MisterCranky: It's on the tip of my robotic tongue....
dlaurent: yes
slavek: yes sir.
purplewurple: 15
Woelf: It has happened occasionally.
Spirit of 70: Of course!
whac3: yes
treefrogbandit: all the time...
Drudiusmaximus: yep
ZeroZilla: Yes. I think it happens most often in A&A. I often try new strategies, in that game, to keep it fresh.
Polgara: no
Darilian: Yes- happened in a game of Junta. Worked a GREAT three way assasination, ended up with all the money, only to be shot by El Presidente- who walked off with ALL the money of FOUR players. I gave him a round of applause. Great game- and NEVER trust Bob.
essmeluke: no unlike you i ule
Toasty: Yes, the problem with a great gameplan is it leads to over confidence, and then it can all hit the fan ;)
2amp: yup, every other game...
hannibal twin 8: Not really.
DHEK: Yeah. But I can't remember anything specific, though I'm sure this happened before to me.
Swiddow: Yes, too many times.
Butterbane: Oh, man, did I ever!
Cmot Dribbler: yep
slagbeast: sometimes
ben21: Yes, my dad did that to me in Chess, perfect strategy, killed every other player I used it on. Up comes him and he slaughtered me.
ozjesting: Many times
iamalias: No. I have had too much experience. I'm usually surprised when my strategy works.
scriptorum: If this only happened once, I'd be ecstatic.
KDSN: Too many times
HScottBuck: No
kashmoney: yes
SisyphusX: Sure.
Cromaa: All the time
rawdawg: thats how you learn to come up with strategies instead of wingin it
vampywife: yeah, several times, but it's ok, i still had fun.
cobbz20: Yes, usually because either I didn't see something or they would have to roll one specific number to turn the tide of the game...and well we know what happens then.
jasta6: All the time.............................................................. So why do I play??
ronster0: if you have not, then your not gaming enough.
JasonMatthews: Hey, are you in our club, and were you here Saturday?
scribidinus: Yeah, it was the last time I led the assault with my ass.
POvidiusNaso: No, but I've messed them up.
brainrob: Oh yes
dietevil: Of course, hasn't everyone?
tolendante: Yes
SteveK2: Often
aramis: often. Been the other side more often, tho.
billgoode: I know I have before. Can't really remember any specifics though. I'm sure that I've done it plenty of times in chess.
mgringo: Absolutely.
meshuggener: Often.
Unitbuster: All the time. Of course, I'd rather try something new and get my ass handed to me than play the same strategy over and over. You gotta experiment, duder.
GeminiWeb: I expect so
Suzan: Always
skrutsch: I'm sure I have, but I can't think of an example right now.
Bandit Ripshawd: You betchya! Humiliating experience
ZombyDawg: Yes, but it was still a brilliant idea. I just didn't make my forced march roll.
Dorque: Nope. More often, I feel confused from turn 2, and am suprised when I win.
puffinge: when does this not happen?
djlg: Yes
jttm: Nope
Lord_Prussian: Of course.
chaddyboy_2000: Yup.
CDRodeffer: Yes
skelebone: That describes nearly every game for me.
CortexBomb: Countless times, it comes with the territory
Spielfreak: It's the story of my gaming life. You'd think everyone else would get tired of seeing my ass on that platter, but NOOoooooo...
