¿Question #4754?
Lord_Prussian: What is your opinion of Walmart? How would your opinion change if they started stocking German board games?

ocdspectrum: I don't like them. I only buy cheap miniature paints there.
jcsan7: Opinion: It's okay. With german games: Mecca
Woelf: Actually, they are doing that now. A small handful of games, at least. Walmart is still Walmart.
pricero1: I'm not keen on their management style, though they seem to run their UK operation differently to that in the US.
aleo09: it's fine. i try to shop local when possible, but will shop there for items not carried locally.
oriecat: I hate Walmart and refuse to shop there. We had to go there once because we received a gift card (which we swapped for a visa gift card so we didn't have to spend it there) and I felt dirty just being there.
davidgpeterson: Great place.
Introvertron: Probably still wouldn't go
rogerwilco86:
Spirit of 70: I'm not a fan and wouldn't be even if they stocked eurogames.
magikaru: I hate Walmart.
Felimid: Wal*Mart is about as soul-less a store as I've ever been to. I feel sorry for their employees, but NOT their employers and president. Stocking Euro/German games there wouldn't change this, sorry to say.
DasViktor: I would be more appreciative of Wal-Mart if the company actually listened to the wants of the customers, instead of implementing some bean counter's business plan. Yes, if they sold Euro games, my opinion of Wal-Mart would rise significantly.
pwilz: Well, I go. I frequently dread the experience, but nobody forces me to go back. If they started stocking German Board games, it would mean that I no longer had a geeky hobby. I'm not sure how that would make me feel.
jessitron: It would change significantly.
Drudiusmaximus: Walmart is evil, but they still get most of my shopping money. Good ganes would be nice
Moberho: They never carry the variety of any products I want (board games, sodas, old video games), so I avoid shopping there. They would have to stock more than just German Board games for me to start liking them again.
ahoodedfigure: I used to hate them, but now I don't care, since I thankfully don't live in a spot that has any Wal Marts. If they started stocking such games, it still wouldn't matter.
Capt O: a maze that takes hours to navigate and no
smilingra: They are evil incarnate. It would improve slightly, but I'd still refuse to buy from there because I think that they would pressure the game makers into making as cheap as bits as possible, missing the whole point of what makes German board games so great.
arkibet: Walmart. meh. They're really hard to work with from a supply chain perspective, which is why I have this opinion. They pretend to be really dumb, and force you to give them a straight discount that they can apply to their rollbacks. It's not the way manufacturers want to contract, and there's no guarantee of marketing promotions... it's all about the price. Really, the representative said, "I'm too stupid, just give me the lowest price you can offer" when I was talking to him. I don't have a college degree, and this guy has a Wharton MBA. You tell me who's the dumb one. If they started stocking German games, I'd only buy if it was conveniently located.
whac3: There are no Walmarts here and so I don't know
bigbadsteve: its all right when i am too lazy to go to several different stores. i would still support my flgs, even if it meant paying more.
gamemark: It's cheap one-stop shopping. If they stocked German games at Wal-Mart prices, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
matthan: I don't like their business ethics. No change.
jeffwolfe: Generally good prices; there's always at least 3 people waiting in line at the checkout no matter the time of day or night. German boardgames would not change my opinion, I don't think. It would be cool if they would carry them and discount them, but the FLGS would have a hard time competing with that.
DHEK: I'm indifferent about Walmart, though I've heard people say bad stuff about them. I don't know how true those are though. I'd have a slightly higher opinion of them if they did stock German boardgames though.
Butterbane: Hate walmart -- probably start shopping there if they had german games at discounted prices.
Leo-T: can take it or leave it - either way
Kedamono: It would be a sign of the end times!
_Kael_: bad. badder
POvidiusNaso: I generally despise Walmart. I would still hate them and I would rather pay an extra 10 or 20% than buy from them. I might help out at a Wal-Mart going OOB sale.
KDSN: Not a huge fan of Walmart, wouldnt like to see them stock any games. If they did it would kill the game stores we love.
purvisa: Walmart sucks. Not much will change my view of the company.
wargamer66: Walmart sux. Everything Ive ever bought there breaks or wears out FAST. I would hate them more if they stocked German games, it would kill the FLGS
ralpheous: They are evil. They would be evil with good taste.
Nekura: Don't shop there. Not really.
Thesp: I WOULD LOVE THEM MORE!
imaraggamuffin: Walmart on LI stinks, Walmart in other states are cool.
ashleesaunt: Can take 'em or leave 'em - prefer Target...opinion would not change if they carried German board games.
BaSL: DNQ
dynoegg: Walmart rocks. next time you are there, Go into a fitting room and shut the door and wait a while; and then yell, very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here!" or While handling guns in the hunting department, ask the clerk if he knows where the anti- depressants are.
MisterCranky: People who bitch about Walmart are agents of Satan. German boardgames at Walmart are agents of God. I believe some sort of movie with Christopher Walken would be the inevitable result.
vampywife: i like Walmart...the ones where i live do stock German board games.
heli: Very negative. No, and they never would because the same reasons I disdain them would keep them from doing that.
Avatar_69: I shop there when I have to. If they sold German games, they'd have at least one line I'd want to buy
mrspank: Walmart represents everything I despise about corporate America. I must admit they'd move up a notch if they offered Euro-style games. That would put them at notch one. (Stolen from Starsky & Hutch)
Hoju: why do people have a problem with walmart? because they are a big company? I shop there rarely but not because I have a problem with them.
yoacusna: No idea. Never seen a Walmart. I think they own ASDA (British Supermarket), which I have nothing particular against.
scriptorum: I've only been in one Walmart and I couldn't understand where all these people had parked their trailers. If they started stocking Euros, I'd probably have the same opinion except be confused about their marketing department.
jasta6: Evil world power, I still would not patronize them......................................
VuduJoie: Walmart blows! I can't stand the homoginization and mass capitalism of America (and the world). If they stocked game, perhaps I'd stop there, but then I'd hate myself for doing so.
dwarf: I went to shop at Wal-Mart just once. It was to get Risk Trilogy Edition for 10$. Not interested in anything else there.
Culvan: Neutral. My opinion probably wouldn't change, but I'd be pleased, because Walmart is way closer to my house than my FLGS is.
Whirlinghurly: Walmart is a beautiful conglomeration of capitalism, but personnally I hope I dont end up working there when I'm 70.
mrbeankc: They're a store like any other store. They simply did it a bit better than others did. If they started stocking serious hobby games I would be very happy.
janiera: Wal-Mart sucks.... It wouldn't change cause I don't go into W...
korppu: No Walmarts in Finland, so couldn't care less
jellospike: E V I L
Malacoda: Evil, see http://walmartwatch.com/
Loquutus: Faceless uncaring corporation that puts local small businesses under and underpays their employees. I've also worked for an importer and dealt with them on the supply side. They're twice as evil on that end. They'll refuse to pay you until the merch is sold, and if it doesn't sell fast enough, they throw the rest out and only pay for what sold. German boardgames would not at all change my opinion.
Tushratta: I think Walmart is overcrowded and sells a lot of junk. But I have no political agenda that demand that I hate Walmart. It's a store for gawdsake. Get over it.
richdknows: Why?
fellonmyhead: It's Asda over here and I like their prices. If they started stocking MDSG's I'd visit more often.
flyinghogfish: Don't get them over here...
MochaKimono: The store lets us park our RV there. It's alright by us.
ZombyDawg: Having crossed the US in an RV I have to say that Walmart is great. Not the best place in the world but when you're tired and need a free place to park the RV for a night or two and there is a store that is open 24 hours right there it doesn't suck.
Belash: it's cheap and has everything. I'd go more often.
Karlsen: Not much, it would go up
djlg: Its big. It'd be even bigger.
Randy Cox: As a consumer, they're not too bad--and they'd be even better with German games. As a supplier to the, they stink. But so do Target, KMart, JCPenney, any larger retailer.
puffinge: I hate them. That wouldn't change my opinion.
jttm: Bad. to Ok.
chaddyboy_2000: I like shopping there. German games would be awesome.
Spielfreak: I am ambivalent, and would remain so, even if they stocked German board games. It's just a store.
skelebone: Even if Wal-Mart started stocking beer and porn at low low prices, I would still hate them with most of my being.
CDRodeffer: Walmart has gone way down hill since Sam died.
CortexBomb: The devil incarnate. It wouldn't change.
Lord_Prussian: The falling prices scare me. They still would even if they were for German Board games.
