ocdspectrum: Demagnetize them so nobody can get in or out.

Felimid: Toss 'em on the desk or night-table.
syphon: I usually leave it in my pocket. Or pull it out, and set it on a table.
Spirit of 70: I use them to unlock my door.
Woelf: If it's a card I usually keep it in my wallet. If it's one of those keys with the giant keychain I'll throw it on whichever table or countertop is nearest the door.

skelebone: I think it's been quite a while since I've been in a hotel room that had actual keys -- most of them have a key-card, and I usually slip it into my wallet.
Randy Cox: I keep the key card with my comb, money, etc, but that's not important. Mr. Cranky sets his down next to his laptop so that he doesn't lose his GQ lead just because he's at Origins.
