Zedsdead: I don't have one, but in some games I am my wife's archrival. In Blokus she routinely homes in on me like a defeat-seeking missile. While we beat each other up, whoever else is playing has a ball filling all the uncontested space.

Asmoridin: I try to treat everyone as archrivals. And then irrationally go after one of them at random, much to their surprise. So yes to both =).

Rubric: Don't really have much of a group anymore, but I never had an archrival in the old days. I don't think I would throw away my own chance of victory regardless.

billgoode: Yes and no. One group I play with regularly only has three players including myself. One of them almost never wins games, but is a good sport and enjoys playing. The other player and I are always in really stiff competition. Almost every game we play one of us beats the other by one or two points. I've never thrown away a victory though so that he would lose.
