¿Question #4840?
Gialmere: True Life Gaming: Using a formula of "price paid vs. time played", what game has given you the best value?
BOBBYCAN: A copy of Panzerblitz that I stole.
marphod: Champions/Hero RPG, probably. Played other games more, but I've only ever bought one book for Champions as opposed to any game that I've played more.
g0trrI: Twilight Imperium
Woelf: Pandemic
Firestata: Twilight struggle
bittykitty: Dungeon Quest or Dominion.
Randy Cox: Well, at over 100*infinity, I'll take The Hanging Gardens. But the formula is flawed.
Felimid: Formula de Mini.
MadBrad: Chess
zemus: cosmic encounters
Rosebud: tic tac toe, and I hate it with the unyielding fury of a thousand suns.
Polgara: tantrix (homemade version)
cgund: Lost Cities
jeRm!: Ticket to Ride
Frubgarde: If you put it like that, then backgammon.
jammasterjake: Lost Cities or Settlers.
Thegreatrob: fable, 15 bucks played over 20 times
Geosmores: Uno
Ronara: Sid Meier's Civ II...oh, wait, you were talking about board games not computer games.
Numskull: Vinci
blindspot: BattleLore, would be $49 for 28 plays ≈$.88 per play, only I received it as a Xmas present. :)
Leo-T: Starship Troopers (the original AH version)
deldebbio: Citatels
DHEK: Settlers of Catan.
POvidiusNaso: Liar's Dice. 36 or so plays vs. $5.
arkibet: Settlers of Catan
stevencole: Bohnanza
diehard4life: Mhing. Paid .49 at St. Vinnies. Played 50 times, and for 50+ hours...
Boraxia: Bang!
Cut & Space: Chess
ZiggyZambo: risk
Shade_Jon: bridge and so on. not counting public domain and games I have created out of mockups, probably D&D and Magic. Thereafter, Pente.
dmomo: Either Carcassonne the Castle, or Lost Cities.
Dorque: Blood Bowl.
bigbadsteve: good question, i would have to say ingenious
vampywife: i have yet to determine that, but i'll keep you updated
cobbz20: If using total person hours, I would have to say Smarty Party, since it has 20+ plays in the past year and we regularly play with 8 or more. If it was just my play time, I would have to say Bang!.
Avatar_69: Settlers of Catan
juan-agustin: Hellas
ralpheous: Grave Robbers from Outer Space
brainrob: DdW
jasta6: B17:Queen of the Skies (TAHGC).............................................................
Chris Page: A deck of cards. (Second place goes to Tichu or Naval War.)
keldrak: soul reaver for psone
Felicity: Bohnanza
Archvile: Settlers of Catan.
Kaleidos Funtastic: ticket to ride.
blan86: Risk
jellospike: Lord of the Rings.
JackDarwid: St Petersburg
scriptorum: Probably Civilization. Long, long hours...
puffinslayer: Bang.
confuse_a_cat: either Euchre or Diamonds
Adiegirl: 10,000 blank white cards.
Xlyce: Advanced Civ
ZombyDawg: Probably Talisman or Settlers of Catan. But I thought that the trend has been moving towards more expensive games with fancy components and glorious bits that require less and less playing time. Maybe a better formula for today's gaming would be: the price paid plus the prestige of the designer divided by time actually played. That should work out today's best gaming value. Or maybe not. Questions like these are just too complicated and fiddly and take too long.
Favre4MVP: Blue Moon
notquitekarpov: Railway Rivals - original game in a tube version
beakermyers: Cosmic Encounter, Mayfair. Bought it for 30 bucks, played it that night, sold it the next day on ebay for 350.00!
jim.brooks10: Duel of Ages
djlg: Squad Leader
wargamer55: Napoleon
jttm: PR
chaddyboy_2000: Probably Perudo.
CortexBomb: Settlers, there's really little comparison. Princes of Florence might be in the ballpark at least
Lord_Prussian: That would take some serious number crunching, but I'd guess that Blood Bowl is up there (although I've spent a fair amount on it) and MtG would be if you count the amount I've gotten for selling cards
skelebone: I think Loopin' Louie is still the winner, because I believe I paid a whopping $0.15 or $0.25 and that game is aweseome.
CDRodeffer: Cribbage
Dave: Settlers of Catan Card Game. ~80 plays now.
puffinge: Football Strategy
Spielfreak: Settlers of Catan, which at one time I played every day at lunch, for over a year.
