¿Question #4846?
Gialmere: True Life Gaming: What would be harder for a newbie to do - learn ASL from scratch, or learn MtG from scratch including all its changing rules and the ramifications of every card ever printed for any given situation?

Woelf: Whichever they're more interested in.
Hendal: who cares?
pltinum: MtG, there are only few that know ALL the rules. Although it's close.
Obi Wann: never looked at MtG. The ASL rulebook though just confounded me. I read it over and over again for a month before trying to play for the first time and still got myself lost and confused. Not an easy game to play
TiwazTyrsfist: Better question, why bother doing either?
dsstant: What about both during a week long vacation?
arkibet: ASL
DasViktor: Worse yet, keep up on the changing rules of Pirates of the Spanish Main and all its expansions.
spayne: mtg
gmonk: MtG is harder to learn and ASL is static
Sandy Petersen: ASL wins hands down.
Hubsi1w6: MtG, of course. At least if you have to know the ramifications of every card.
Rliyen: ASL - Pass me Tax Form 4506, er, the ASL rulebook.
ironsizide: At this point ASL. Sad, isn't it?
Benzebub: MtG, the way you've described it...
sotc77: never played 'em
DHEK: The latter, but only because you make it so ridiculously difficult and extensive.
slagbeast: perhaps ASL
xlorp: ASL. For MtG you only have to know the rules for the cards in the decks.
MadGonzo: ASL - you could learn MtG incrementally when each card was played
thark: MtG. Easily.
scriptorum: ASL.
vampywife: the MtG one
ZombyDawg: Can't say for sure but I do play ASL and pretty much gave up on MtG years ago. But that is mostly my preference based on my interest in the theme and type of game.
nibuen: dont know cause only played Mtg
uunpuppy: Having a true life means giving up on any game with more than 40 pages and spending more time with my family. I play games with my kids, but with simple rules.
themagni: A blind newbie?
Avatar_69: You obviously think MtG would be harder. I tend to disagree. ASL is a pain.
Hoju: ASL can't be THAT hard to learn
Shotmagnet: exactly why I play neither
Bagherra: Deciding which makes better toilet paper...
TheDS: I think it would be hardest for them to understand what your question was.
Platinum Dragon: ASL. Magic's actually pretty easy once you get the basics.
tipigi: ASL
Janiv: Learning ASL, but you probably don't mean American Sign Language by that!
bigbadsteve: asl
skrutsch: I'm sure you could have an including for ASL that would sound just as complicated
LudesFactor: trick question, right?
Cyberjunk: Winning at Shadows Over Camelot.
double_ones: You should include "Learn Star Fleet Battles" from scratch... i'll vote for MtG though
djlg: ASL. Lack of knowledge of MtG just loses you the game. Lack of knowledge of ASL prevents you from even playing.
POvidiusNaso: Beats me.
brainrob: MtG
Domokun: MtG - but only because of the inclusion of having to learn EVERY card ever printed.
Jim_P: M:tG
jttm: Fantasy Gaming: Rubbing the dusters again?
chaddyboy_2000: I've never played either, so i can't really tell ya.
CortexBomb: I don't even want to consider it
skelebone: I've not played ASL, but I think one could pick up the Magic stuff pretty easily; 10-15-year olds do it all the time.
Lord_Prussian: ASL
CDRodeffer: I think M:tG would be harder.
puffinge: ASL by far
Spielfreak: ASL
