¿Question #4900?
puffinge: Grocery store bonus cards: Great deals for all or the work of satan?

ocdspectrum: Decent deals.
BOBBYCAN: Yeah, They're just trying to make us think we're saving money.
thecometkid: Meh, more the work of some lesser demon. Gluten free pancakes are the work of Satan.
Narlgoth: They're good- you build up the points all year round and then knock a fiver off your shopping with them at Christmas. :- .
JDigman62: Satan
JasonDragon: satan
blackthorne1978: satan
DasViktor: greed, greed, and lies! I would have to file those under "Work of Satan".
pwilz: If you want to spend the time putting all that stuff together, more power to you.
daveroswell: somewhere in the middle
GrimJester: Satan-Mart
Harkonnen13: Satan.
hob69: Increasingly, perhaps, a necessity. Those points might well prove crucial. Of course, when that happens, the stores will cancel the cards and wipe the points.
Hendal: both
vandemonium: Well really Satan has a hand in most things so I don't think that is really a fair question. Have some sympathy and taste man.
ZeroZilla: Glorified coupons. Nothing more nor less.
alcbkr: Great deals for those of us who are special.
BuddhaPhi: Satan. We all know that.
Geosmores: in between
aleo09: good i guess
MotUfan: They're not evil, but it is a slippery slope. I'm sure many politicians would like to keep track of all of our purchases.
matthan: I hate them. I make it a habit not to shop at those stores.
DHEK: I don't know... we don't have that system where I live.
Benzebub: Neither.
ZiggyZambo: deals
monkeyrobot: I guess they´re great if you manage to care about them.
POvidiusNaso: Work of Satan.
Leo-T: both
matthewjhoskins: Satan is too busy working for Big Oil to donate time to Safeway.
Geese: usually ok deals
purvisa: Yes
Greedo: I got one of those cards just so I wouldn't have to hear them say "do you have a bonus card" a billion more times. They beat me into submission.
PsyJam: It's all Satan
ellephai: The latter, if anything. No great deals really, just another gimmick. Woo, the price WITH the card is deeply discounted... from what they jacked up the "regular" price to in order to make the card price look good! Big deal. Whether you use a store-loyalty card, or a coupon, or buy the thing on "sale," or 2-for-1, or BOGO (buy one get one), or any other gimmick, all that matters is: How much did you pay? Compare prices, not gimmicks. So the upside of the cards is wholly artificial and not anything that stores couldn't have achieved by other means. On the downside, it enables them to gather data on your buying habits, which I certainly resent. I resent being forced to choose between being put under surveillance and having to pay higher-than-normal grocery prices--because their pricing is totally predicated on the fact that virtually everyone has the card. They pitch it like the higher price is what everyone pays, and the lower price is what YOU with the card pay, because you're special! but really the higher price is only a punishment for a few unfortunates, and the lower price is what they expect the vast majority of customers to pay. And what I have resented the absolute most is having to buy stuff at the inflated price when in a strange town, shopping at a store I didn't have a card for.
MaksimSmelchak: Obnoxious question. Please ask better questions.
bigbadsteve: well, i used mine today and saved $3.80. so there!
dmomo: Nothing to even really think about.
Burnham: there's next to zero work involved to get or use one, so they're fantastic.
Badgeroonie: Good deal
vampywife: i think some of them have real value, but there aren't any where i live
mrspank: Obviously Satan's work.
cobbz20: Probably both.
jasta6: work of satan, try to make you think you're getting something you are not....................
scriptorum: Somewhere in the middle there.
WatchmanX2000: Marketing scam
brainrob: Great deals
dahtcom: Evil. If I wanted to provide millions in market research, I would expect to be compensated more than just $0.50 off of chips.
LemonyFresh: It makes sense, but still rather annoying.
Android: Santa!
zapperio: Get behind the cashier Satan!
xlorp: No fair, you peeked at the master Plan!
bobthemundane: Work of evil, pure, unadulturated eveil
Xenomech: They're tricks to get marketing info from you, but what can you do?
korppu: Neither - decent deals sometimes
DaGen: F5
Loquutus: Bonus cards? I don't think the people at my supermarket like me very much...
chrisisapimp: no
Tailuje: what?
Mike A: Work of Satan. No question about it.
ZombyDawg: 3 cents off the price of gasoline when I use my Kroegers card at the Kroegers pump. That's definitely not the work of Satan. Dr. Phil is Satan.
Randy Cox: I don't see a big harm, what makes you equate it to the devil? Missed your free ham last Easter by one point? Update: Bill, are you aware that you don't have to dig the card out--just give them your phone number and that works (assuming you have that number associated with the card).
puffinge: I really miss the days when you could get things on sale without having to dig out that card. It's also one more thing for all the people in front of you in line to forget to get out until the last second.
Lord_Prussian: Very annoying
chaddyboy_2000: They just have those cards in place of decent prices to start with.
djlg: Neither.
skelebone: I've never had those, or I'm not entirely certain what you are talking about.
CDRodeffer: Great deals for Satan.
jttm: What the heck are those? Do you get bonus cards at grocery stores.
