¿Question #569?
bentlarsen: When you create a Geek list, do you care about the ratings? Why or why not?

oldhoss: I don't create geek lists.
Smoothsmith: Yes because I'm a colossal thumb-whore. Well not really, but I do like to know that content I've posted is interesting to people! =)
Woelf: No, because they don't have ratings anymore and haven't for a very, very long time.
rordak: Never made one
ArcanaGamer: The cheap answer is, it depends on the GeekList, and that it could go either way. If pressed I'd say I care about them more than I don't however.
hob69: I've only created one. I was sad to see it didn't take off a bit more.
cgund: I haven't made any GLs, but I would probably be very aware of other users' approval thereof. If I were to make a GL.
LarryKruger: Of all the geeklists I have created, 1, I was not too o
TheKeck: I haven't created a geeklist.
42ndSSD: When I create a Geek list, they'll pry it out of my cold dead fingers.
atrium: Well, everyone like to
craniac: Yes. Easier to sort through the crap.
xofour: I did not even realize tha they were rated. Well, now that I am aware of that, it completely changes my geek list plans. Thank you for the words of warning.
hoojii: I consider ratings a fairly good guideline but in the end every one has their own opinions.
philoiz: Nah. Cuz I never have.
aleo09: no, i never get good ratings
DHEK: I think I'd care about the ratings, at least a bit. Because it's feedback from different perspectives to see if I got my stuff right or wrong.
POvidiusNaso: I haven't in a long time, partly out of fear of getting less than 2 thumbs.
tdyck: yes, because I want to be accepted
Boomer: no, I just create them to amuse myself
Karmic_devil: Not at all. I make them usually with a purpose and find most people most accomodating, to those who are bothered by my agenda so much as to give a poor rating I say pffffffffffffffffffffffffft'!
tipigi: no, the ratings do not really matter to me.
B_J_S: Yes, I want the work to be appriciated
dmomo: no
brainrob: I don't create geek lists
SisyphusX: I have not created a Geek List. I should. If I did, I wouldn't care about ratings, as it would be a list I made for ME.
vampywife: i've not created one as i'm not sure what kind of list would be well received.
FrozenHoHos: Considering that my only two are private...no
Mordachai: Depends on why I write the list. Fore example, some lists are written to get information out of the community. Those lists are ratings independant. Then we have the lists that are written to amuse and those are very ratings dependant.
rawdawg: no
Dhunam: No, just the games I like
scriptorum: Yes. It's in indicator of how successful I was in creating a useful and interesting GeekList.
puck4604: Never. I create them to either amuse myself or my audience.
Nem Menuu: No, because I make geeklists out of curiosity, not for prestige.
Helenoftroy: no, I just have fun
arkibet: only did one and no
korppu: No
Recneps: Ratings hurt my feelings.
PSXfile: No
javelin98: Nope. Why should I?
GI Joe: Never created a list yet, but I would care more about people's comments than ratings. Ratings are just numbers, and if I don't know why someone did or didn't like something, the knowledge that they did or didn't isn't helpful.
matthew.marquand: yes. Most list stink...mindless drivel.
GrandpaDave: No
GuyHill: I simultaneously care and do not care about the ratings of all my geeklists
ronster0: sure, I love to see feedback
CharlieWonka: No and because that is not why you created it
ssmooth: Sure, because the higher the rating, the more prominently it appears on the game page.
Lord_Prussian: I haven't made a list.
ThatFalafelGirl: i haven't yet, but if i find something that hasn't been done a squijillion times before, high ratings would be nice, but not terribly important
Randy Cox: Depends on the geek list. If it's one I spent time on and care about, then yes. If it's a throw-away list, then no.
skrutsch: I don't want to, but it's hard not to care. Ratings have pretty much stopped me from making any. My husband made one and last time I looked it had a 1. That made me feel bad. He spent a lot of time on it.
Scott Tepper: Not really. I'm probably harder on my output than other people would be.
2amp: never made a geek list. nor am i likely to in the near future
chad56s: I don't give two craps.
WasQ: no, I don't care. Because I create the geeklist for another reasons, I not expect any ratings.
fizzix: ratings-schmatings
Quest22: No
MisterCranky: Hell no, because every Geeklist I have ever created since ratings were introduced has garnered automatic 1's seconds after publication. The majority of people who bother to pay attention to me seem to feel that I should value their worthless opinions, and yet, I do not.
erli: I care but only because everyone else does
batman: No, other people's opinions usually don't affect me that much.
Ludocrazy: Not usually. I'm not that funny or erudite.
Oborro: meh
gnomehome: I try to make relevant geeklists, not "high scoring" geeklists.
buergerberatung: nope, why should i care ?
fsumarc: no. it doesn't really affect my view.
lexen: no, because i usually get bad ratings anyway.... you get use to it...
Cavedog_pdx: I used to. But now the only ratings I really care about are for games - not geeklists, articles, pictures, or anything else.
jttm: Nahhh... I made mine before ratings were introduced...
Bluenose: No. Cathartic usually, but I'm interested in peoples reactions, not neccesarily their ratings.
fellonmyhead: No, because I do it for myself and everybody else can take it or leave it.
bop517: Nope
Ryno8: No... as long as it gets good content, I don't dare.
BobDodgerBlue: Mildly, I like to do a good job
geberus: never made a list
chaddyboy_2000: Nope, I could care less.
djlg: No. More a question of why care? They're only ratings.
Eric Haas: My rating is the only one that counts.
wtrollkin2000: No. I use ratings to find good geeklists. For any geeklist I make I can easily find it so how it rates doesn't add any worth for me.
kennyb: nope, cause i do it for the fun...
louiseh: I'm vaguely interested but I don't care.
netfilterz: I haven't created any lists yet...
nnf1: No cause I'm sharing and that is rateless
Glamorous Mucus: Yes. Partly out of vanity, partly because I want others to read my lists, and partly because I want to know that others are enjoying them. However, I don't think the ratings are a very good measure of lists' worth.
CDRodeffer: No, I create lists just for my own reference.
snoozefest: yes; acknowledgement/reward for effort?
Shakar: Not really.
manowarplayer: Both.
Aldie: No.
Blackwind: No
LudesFactor: anything below a 9 is going to send me into such an angst-ridden depression, i'll never come back to the Geek again!
Gelatinous Goo: no--I can't live by affirmations, or lack thereof
ping9x: Yes, but I've never created one.
scribidinus: Geeklists are hard work. I've only created two and that was before the rating system. Both have been well received. I'm quitting while I'm ahead.
HBGlover: Yeah, I hate to admit it, but I do. Hence my very few lists.
WonderCinz: No. Critics!
CortexBomb: No. Because ratings are random enough on the Geeklists to almost be arbitrary, everyone has their own system, as such, they don't really matter to me
willythesnitch: no
ynnen: Yes I do. I take a lot of time and effort when putting together a list, and generally only submit lists I think contribute to the quality of content on the site. It's nice to know that my fellow Geeks enjoy the effort.
seppo21: My one public geeklist was prior to the institution of ratings. Beyond that, why do I care if a bunch of people I don't know like/dislike my list?
Flyspeck23: No, because my goal wouldn't be to receive high ratings.
CheetohFingers: no- the ratings can be eiltist around here
TamiWhitsett: not really. who knows what the ratings mean?
skelebone: Hells no. I don't really care what people think of my Geeklists.
ValJor: I have created all my geeklists prior to the institution of the ratings, so the answer is no.
