TheGrimReeple: Socks, hell no. Nonfiction by subject, fiction by author. Mostly. Co-authors and anthologies confuse things, of course. Luckily I have Good Omens in both hardcover and paperback, so can avoid the toughest choice and shelve it under both Gaiman and Pratchett. And some oddities where a series has been passed on to a different author, but I keep the series together under the main (usually original) author's name.

My personal library, on the other hand, is catalogued and shelved using my own slightly modified Library of Congress system--except for the ones that are stacked on the staircase in grocery bags because I need more bookshelves.
