¿Question #790?
TomVasel: Storing games: Vertical or horizontal?
Volstag: Whatever makes for the best fit in the shelving I have available
ocdspectrum: Vertical unless it's a long box
imyourskribe: Mostly verty. A few big ones are horzy
Marquis25: Currently horizontal, but plans for vertical. It gets rid of the bottom of the stack issue.
Felimid: A little of both.
Jbrady: Vertical
TiwazTyrsfist: Damn near always horizontal. I've yet to see a storage tray in a game that was well enough designed to allow Vertical storage.
sweetgotham: both
Woelf: Horizontal. If storage space someday becomes an issue I may switch to vertical though.
MartinWin: Horizontal.
Comic23: horizontal
WOTZI: horizontal
GeneSteeler: vertical
Hendal: horizontal if possible, thanks for asking
kathleenryan: On end in boxes.
muzfish4: Horizontal.
malloc: Vertical
anomander64: horizontal.
42ndSSD: Diagonally.
vandemonium: Both depending on space. I strive for horizontal and try and get it to work out that tile games or games with no boards go vertical.
Alazabba: the latter
falloutfan: Vertical
TheKeck: Horizontal.
hancock.tom: Depends on space constraints and type of box. Right now, I've got everything stored vertically except for a few really sturdy boxes which I have some smaller games sitting on top of. The sturdy boxes are C&CA and WotR.
arkibet: both
elirlandes: Depends entirely upon the available storage space.
DHEK: Vertical. Until it's too high for the shelf or storage area, then horizontal.
aleo09: horizontal
thesama: Horizontal, until I'm told otherwise.
Der Ubermolch: It depends on the orientation of the print on the box. Peurto Rico is stored vertically, Java horizontally. Soring vertically is better for the borad (it doesn't sag) but then the bits get all jumbled.
ebolavirus13: horizontal
Kibbersdog: Duh. Vertical.
POvidiusNaso: Horizontal.
Gamegrunt: Horizontal.
mpw182: horizontal
Beyak: H
chooi: Vertical better for boxes but Horizontal better for bits not flying about
JimmyJingle: Horzontal
cowdog: Horizontal.
Son of Murray: Horizontal. I wouldn't want the bits to get all scrambled up, I hate that.
bigbadsteve: massive pile
dmomo: Horizontal. EGAD!
JonBen: horizontal
Dale of the Bow: both---more variety
PsyJam: Vertical
frieque: vertical (too many games with pieces in little storage compartments that would spill and intermix)
vampywife: horizontal
BigDLishus: Virtical.
Wave1921: I like to store them flat because game producers do not format the interior of the box to accommodate keeping them upright.
FrozenHoHos: How ever they fit on the shelves.
DrZaius: Both
the_redstar_swl: On the X-Axis
mlanza: Vertically whenever inner contents are well secured, otherwise horizontally.
Chris Page: Horizontalish.
joebelanger: Horizontal.
Mordachai: Currently horizontal.
redhuntingcap: switched to horizontal because the game boards were becoming warped from being vertical.
_Kael_: Horizontal cause gravity mostly works vertical
Loquutus: Vertical
vetinari7878: Horizontal.
Culvan: Horizontal games, stacked vertically.
dietevil: Both
ZombyDawg: Vertical for most. Horizontal when required.
brainrob: Horizontal
Tushratta: Doggy style.
javelin98: Vertical
Null Signature: VERTICAL! horizontal... why would you do that...
Frouvne: Horizontal!
sourwyrm: whichever
Chris Barnard: Horizontal. Vertical leads to warped boards.
The Unbeliever: 42
scriptorum: Vertical is more convenient, but horizontal keeps the components organized and prevents warping.
thoia: horizontal
Lord_Prussian: Vertical if possible
Fal: Horizontal
skrutsch: Mostly vertical.
Timothius: Horizontal
lambda: Horizontal
davedanger: upside down
Nick Danger: Vertical - I like the way they look, easier to take out and put back, plus it makes them look slimmer!
puffinge: bookshelf games: vertical, others: horizontal
2amp: vert, when i can. several are too big
BaSL: horizontal
bluebehir: Difficult question. Vertical messes the insides, horizontal assumes that you have more than one box atop each other, which creates dents. I go for horizontal because I have little shelf space.
viogression: Depends on whether the bits in the box would get moved around too much.
mrbeankc: Both
mbregoli: Vertical
glookose: vertical
ThatFalafelGirl: horizontal
Bearcat89: It depends upon the dimesions of the box and the components of the game.
Scott Tepper: both
melissa: horizontal, so the bits don't get mixed up
GornTC: Depends on the size of the gamebox.
Lucimara: horizontal.
WasQ: Diagonal
Quest22: Horizontal
Nomadik: I would love to store vertically, but I am too lazy to unpile the stack
AWildEep: Verticle.
Hallow: Horizontal all the way
TamiWhitsett: horizontal
kennyb: i am looking to work out some sort of display mechanism at 52 degress
steadym: Horizontal
jimchris: Vertical. Don't want to mix everything up inside the box.
dakarp: horizontal. I don't want my boards to warp.
silverthorn11: mostly vertical but horizonatal for small card games
ginn5j: Yes
Mark_WH: Vertical
heli: on edge
DJinSD: Horizontal
GuyHill: Weird
Thornn: Horizontal; vertical only to fill in extra space on the shelf.
DenverWolf: horizontal in very small stacks
toulouse: horizontal
AlorielLelyn: Vertical, till the stack is about to fall, then another stack...
Salt-Man Z: Horizontal.
Favre4MVP: horizontal
fellonmyhead: Depends on the game; but mostly vertical on shelves.
kracken: Horizontal
tragicpoet: Totally Game Dependant (games like Facts In Five demand vertical storage)
jens_hoppe: Both, depending on type. :-)
UhhhClem: Vertical.
thugbert: horizontal you fool!
StormKnight: However I can best stuff them onto the shelves
alfredhw: Depends on the space available. Narrow shelves: Vertical. Long shelves: Horizontal, narrow end out.
Nightmare: Horizontal - so the pieces don't slide around.
fsumarc: vertical baby
Blackwind: both
m_r_tyler: Alea and AH bookcase games store vertical. Everything else horizontal.
isolated: Vertical. The bits don't fall out that way.
Mosse: Getting them all into the closet is a puzzle. Both.
Grimwold: horizontal, so the bits don't fall about inside the box.
DangerMouse: Both
fizzix: Horizontal..... (waiting for shock to clear)...... I open my boxes and, lo and behold, the pieces aren't all mixed up.
Novus: Horizontal
ejmowrer: Horizontal. Can't bear the thought of chits everywhere when I open it again!
Dave: Mostly vertical, but some of my storage locations require horizontal.
Belash: mix it up
geberus: Vertical
gnomehome: That depends on the game itself really. Alea stores vertically, GW horizontally,...
chaddyboy_2000: Horizontal.
djflippy: Vertical. Sure the bits can bunch up, but I can fit more games in a bookcase vertically. Besides, I don't like having a heavy game sitting on the fragile lid of the game below it.
P.O.G.G.: Usually vertical, on my bookshelf. Its kind of like a library that way.
CheetohFingers: Horizontal
Vince Londini: Mostly horizontal...keeps pieces in trays better
hibikir: It's all about the number of baggies. For example, nobody in their right mind would store Wallenstein vertically without, at least, 9 extra baggies
wtrollkin2000: I store more horizontal, but wish I could store more vertical
darthcliff: Depends
sdownin: Vertical. Stored like books on a shelf.
Reloaded: Vertical would be best for less box damage IMHO...
jaredh: Both. Whichever makes the best use of space based on the box size.
louiseh: Mixture to squeeze maximum on shelves
Ludocrazy: Both. Whatever is most beneficial to the individual box.
Aldie: vertical
BobDodgerBlue: depends on the game
Karlsen: Mainly horizontal, but depends on the game
Glamorous Mucus: Vertical, mostly
yossarians: little bit of both
Mike A: Flat (because my space requires it, curses).
ValJor: Horizontal, but no more than three-deep
Flyspeck23: Horizontal.
ScottBecker: some of each
Linnaeus: Vertical
Shakar: Horizontal.

skelebone: Vertical for most, but horizontal for longbox games.
queequeg: mix
djlg: Vertical.
ynnen: Whichever fits the storage space and orientation best.
Jim_P: Depends on the game
CortexBomb: Horizontal. I put many things in baggies, but most of my games have enough loose stuff that standing them on end would still cause problems
