jiminy: I'm trying to find a better way. I'm rather in-Xacto with a knife--I find sometimes I make cuts where I don't want them. Current method: I rock the counters like a loose tooth until there's a clean break,then corner-clip with a nailclipper to clean the corners which were attached to the sprue.

scriptorum: It depends, if they're properly perforated, a gentle poke should do it. If they're poorly perforated, I push from the side that is cut the deepest, to avoid ripping or separating the paper from the cardboard.
