Wife_of_Godeke: Boring answer: They're the same. More interesting answer: If you measure a pound of each on July 1st, they'll both"weigh" a pound. If you weigh the exact same pound of lead on December 1st it will still be a pound, however that pound of potatoes has decomposed into a "lighter" amount of material (due to fluid loss, etc.). So the pound of lead is "heavier" in that it remains at a pound, while the potatoes degrade to less than that over time.
