¿Question #1853?
isolated: You see a game that you KNOW you will Love, but your group probably won't; do you buy it and all the expansions anyway or spend money on a game the whole group WILL enjoy?
Narlgoth: As my profile says, the group should come first!
JasonDragon: Me, me, me.
pwilz: Buy it. Make them try out the basic version. I have to try out stuff they bring, right?
Woelf: I'd probably buy it, but would probably hold off on the expansions.
Solaris: The second one.
veritasae: Sometimes you gotta buy for you.
tarheel: I'd buy it and then force a bill through so it will have to be played
Septic: Suit myself. Group can chip in on their own games.
WatchmanX2000: it's my money.
ahoodedfigure: i sorta ask them first, to see if they'll play
CountDice: Hey, they don't have to love it, they have to make YOU happy :-)
Blott: A game the group WILL enjoy. Then I put the other game on my birthday list. When they buy it for my birthday I make them play it with me.
jackoshadows: buy it, but not the expansions. then it waits silently in the dark until, some day, that perfect combination of events allows you to play the game! muhahahahaha!
TMuscle: I just do both. I could find somone that enjoys it.
El Hidalgo: My money my game!
diehard4life: 6 of one and half-dozen of another.
DancingMoogle: I come first.
Peach: I'm crazy and would probably get both...
hancock.tom: It depends. Do I know anyone I can play it with? Will it play solo? What about on cyberboard, Vassal, or ACTS? It depends
DHEK: If there's a good chance I can win over my friends, or I can play with other people, then I'll get it. If there's very low chance or no chance, I won't buy it.
aleo09: yes. i just bought roads and boats and dont know if my group would like it.
spamwise: I get the game... and a new group.
slagbeast: Buy it for me.
mrspank: I usually go for the group game instead.
Timotheous: Buy it. I'll find someone to play it. And other group members will buy games the whole group will enjoy.
Ebon Wendigo: I buy what I like
Steve Be: BUY IT
mpw182: i buy for me, mememememe
Mixo: Tough choice - as long as the group has enough stuff to play (the situation we are in) I will always go for: BUY IT! (I just love reading rules and looking at the game material) on the other hand if we were be short of games I'd opt for the "group game"
fteplin: It's called Carcassonne, my friend.
richlowe32: Buy it. "The fools will come round to my way of thinking!" Then I'll ebay it a few months later when noone will play it with me.
dragonewtking: yes
sbszine: I'll buy it if at least one other person can be talked into playing it. Luckily my group is pretty diverse.
seretur: I buy the game I love.
vampywife: if i would enjoy it, i would buy it.
Shotmagnet: screw the group, its MY money
ibemichael: I'll by the game (no expansions) for myself, then push and push my group to play. When they do and hate it, I pretend to be insulted. Hey, they can't really dislike it until they try it, right?
Vashalla: I'd probably buy it anyway. Having grown up as an only child, I have no problem playing multiplayer games all by myself.
Kazin: I don't buy it... Who would I play with?
Big Bad Lex: Yes
brainrob: It's a group thing. Why waste money on a game you'd never play?
Karlsen: Buy the one I love, there's plenty of other games already for them to play. I will get to play the loved one - eventually
Bahamut-X: I'd think about it a lot of time... cough Dungeon Twister cough
Chris Page: The first.
bigbadsteve: since i dont get to play with a group that often, i buy games i know i will enjoy
LudesFactor: neither, i don't buy very many games
Mosse: I buy games based on what I like, although I do -try- to search for games that -can- be played 2-player, and language-independency is a -big- plus!
jellospike: We buy games AS a group, and split the costs.
Ozvortex: Me, me, me!!!
javelin98: Buy it! You can bring them around eventually. Or else you can play it by yourself in the basement, under a single bare lightbulb, gibbering to yourself like some psychotic freak. That pretty much describes my Thursdays. It puts the lotion in the basket...
Recneps: Buy the game. Chances are you'll never play the other one anyway.
cerulean: depends on the price.
meshuggener: Yes. Fuck them.
Cavedog_pdx: 90% of what I get is to make me happy. Otherwise I'd have bought I'm the Boss, Condottiere, Elfenroads, and Medici by now.
ssmooth: The game I know I will love doesn't have expansions.
Tushratta: I buy the games that I like. Let 'em buy the games they like themselves.
GrandpaDave: Buy it anyway, you only live once
Megadev: I'd probably buy it anyways
skrutsch: Both!
Lord_Prussian: Buy it and hope the group will give it a try and then trade it later when they won't.
The Unbeliever: 42
thoia: I buy what I want, screw them, if they can shell out the bucks themselves...but then again my group pretty much all buy games so...i don't really have that problem...but that's how I WOULD be about it if it were a problem! Yeah!
msbtch2u: sadly, i'd cave in to the majority.
Snappatoon: Buy it anyway
dakarp: Most likely, I get them all.
Gecko23: If its my cash, then the group can go %!$@.
Knowbody: No need to buy it if they will not play. (Boggle deluxe for me)
Randy Cox: These days, I don't even bother with it. In the past, I buy it just to fondle it, read rules, and pretent that some day in the distant future I may play it. Now, I realize that chances are it won't live up to billing and it surely won't earn its keep on the shelf for 12 years.
Igmatto: yes
shumyum: I have a diverse array of groups, but even without that excuse I'd buy both games, of course.
jimchris: Depends on the price. If it's cheap, might buy it, hoping that I'll eventually make them see the light...
ThatFalafelGirl: buy it, eventually, you will find someone who will play it with you
mandj2001: I go for the group games first.
Belash: buy the game I will love, it is my money.
Kubilai: Quality in itself is a property worth of ownership. I'd buy it.
djlg: Both
Basilius: I buy it. I can't help myself. There MUST be an opponent out there somewhere...
Ivan: Buy it anyway.
KnobDoctor: I buy it and all the expansions. I'm dumb that way.
CherryPie: Buy it without the expansions and find someone else to play it with.
snoozefest: latter
scriptorum: Take a look at the number of games I own but never played and you'll have your answer
MisterCranky: Let me just say this about that: Screw the group.
berserkley: buy it any way
Metaphora: Both :)
heli: don't buy it
mikey-flies: Buy it. Find a new group.
batman: I will buy it. My groups big enough to find someone who will play it.
TechLee: Buy it and get them to try it, at least.
ValJor: I buy what I want
rawk: the group
Bearcat89: I buy stuff that I will enjoy.
RandallPeek: Usually I buy games with the intended audience in mind, although I will occasionally get a game that I know will appeal mostly to me.
2amp: group
Flyspeck23: If I want it, I'll buy it.
Wintergoblin: I would probably spend money on a game that the whole group will enjoy.
Fal: Yes. And I carry it and plead for it until it's given a chance
Malacoda: Buy it... I can wait & the group is fluid
CDRodeffer: Buy it.
nexttothemoon: I try to buy only the expansions that I think will make the game better...and yes I try to buy games that my group will like...not just that I would like.
Dave: These days, I don't buy a game unless it is likely that I will have opponents for it. But it used to be the former.
gnomehome: Buy it (if reasonably priced)
kennyb: buy it...and another one the group will like...and another...and another
fellonmyhead: I'd sooner do the latter, but I'd probably do both.
puffinge: I usually buy it and end up regretting it.
wtrollkin2000: I buy it all
AlorielLelyn: I have purchased games such as that in the past, though typically not all of the expansions till I can find an opponent.
CortexBomb: Yes, but not all the expansions (in most cases) and only because I associate with more than one group of gamers, so it shouldn't be a long term issue
chaddyboy_2000: I buy it anyway.
Favre4MVP: I'd buy it without the expansions and play it with someone else. There's always someone else who will like it.
skelebone: I buy whatever I damned well please.
Spielfreak: Fnord
Blackwind: buy what I like.
jttm: Buy buy buy!
