¿Question #220832?
imyourskribe: Were there different imperial and metric units for time, how colossal of a pain in the ass would that be? What would the imperial unit of time be called?
pricero1: Captain's log, Stardate 5630.8...
Tim%20Synge: The one we have is imperial. Metric would be 10 seconds in a minute, 10 minutes in an hour, 10 hours in a day, 10 days in a week, 10 weeks in a month, 10 months in a year and … 10 years in a decade. Oh, hold on, someone has started introducing it already?!
Woelf: The base unit is a "timey", which is the equivalent to an Imperial minute. A kilotimey (1000 timeys) is a Metric day. A centitimey is a Metric second. Someone else can figure out the conversion rates.
0Shea0: Secounds, based on the amount of time of one kingly fart. Inconveniently, every 5th secound there is an extra half second, just because it should not be easy or straight forward.
mr3d: 77 moments = 7 bits = 1 while = 35min and 3 sec
oriecat: I think our current system would be the imperial, since it's 60s and 24s. The metric would need to be 100s, right? And apparently it's been tried: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_time
imyourskribe: Or what would the metric unit be? Which is which? Ahhhhh
