¿Question #224772?
pricero1: When did the barbarians win?

TheGrimReeple: When the Beach Boys wrote a song about them.
Grimsalt: Everyone seems to agree that the Roman Empire fell in 395 AD, but that's bullocks : that was just the western Latin Catholic side. The Greek Orthodox side, aka the Eastern Roman Empire, lived-on another thousand years, until 1453 ; while Charlemagne, the Pope and the 4th Crusade culture vulture'd them into oblivion. Sad and shameful. My old friend with a doctorat's degree in Classic Studies used to adamantly deny this, because of convenience / status quo / Ivory Tower brainwashing, which always infuriated me, the lowly college degree bookworm, unauthorized to harbour unlicensed opinions... Ugh! The only certainty is that History repeats itself. Eistein said only a madman would expect different results each time. Men are like house flies following a trail of pheromones. Disturb them and they reboot the sisyphean process. We're not that different from insects after all. Makes sense, considering the parasitical nature of Human exploitation.
