Woelf: It's possible that it's happened in the past, but was probably a mutual decision because something in the game broke or a player had such a lead that there was no chance of anyone else catching up.

atrium: I dropped out of my first game of Diplomacy - before I had ever seen any games like that. I was invited over to play a game at the last minute, but I explained that I had been hiking all day and was tired. The actual game started at 9pm and by midnight there had been about 2 actual turns of gameplay completed. I explained that I hadn't been told the game would last so long, but when I wanted to leave they protested. So I left anyway, and yes - somewhat angry and frustrated.
