PolarDad: Our microwave died. How long could you go without a microwave?

MABBY: R.I.P. The PolarWave. Personally I could do without, but my wife uses ours every day to warm water or leftover tea. So, in other words, I could last about 20 minutes before I'd buy a new one.
TheGrimReeple: Indefinitely. It's a convenience, not a necessity.
TomTi89: A long time. We microwave things maybe once or twice a week. Mostly we use the oven, toaster, or sometimes the grill. So, one or two weeks without be fine. Any longer and certain situations would become annoying. If I'm home alone for the evening [I get home fairly late], I sometimes throw something in the microwave instead of properly cooking.
pricero1: I could easily live without one.
Grimsalt: The same thing happened to me. I couldn't find a suitable replacement, so I googled how to cook toast *in* the oven ; then how to steam veggies *on* the oven ; meat was the final frontier, but EVERYTHING tastes better now. The hardest part was transitioning the pantry from pre-made to DIY — it felt like defragmenting an old hard drive.
Woelf: A couple days before it starts to get really annoying. You never realize how often you use it until you don't have one.
