¿Question #228891?
TomTi89: I want to visit every country in Europe. Done France and Spain a long time ago. Adding Italy and Switzerland this month, though the latter is only for 12 hours. That means I'll go to the Netherlands at some point. I've always thought I'd rather do something other than Amsterdam, and Dernag3d seems to agree - "Also, don't go to Amsterdam if you can help it", so my question is - where should I go in the Netherlands, if not Amsterdam? I know very little about the country.
Derang3d: Utrecht! Other good options are Den Bosch, Den Haag, or Nijmegen, tho it depends on what you're looking for. A'dam is too tall and busy, R'dam is too new and ugly. Most of the rest is OK or OK+ ^^.
MABBY: Go to the wiggly bordered bit where you can drive through a small bit of Belgium and arrive back in a different part of the Netherlands. Another European country ticked off!
Ruesailmana: Depends on what you want to see and what you like. Even Amsterdam has its charms, although not enough to keep me from moving back to Eindhoven.
purplewurple: If you like cities, I’ve shown people around Utrecht, The Hague, and Nijmegen, and they loved it. Den Bosch would be my next choice.
mattomaw: The Zeider Zee! Or however you spell it.
pricero1: I've not been there, but I've heard that Maastricht is really nice and in the "hilly" part of the Netherlands.
