shotokanguy: Tolstoy, though they both tend to be overly long, I think. I liked the Death of Ivan Illytch. Then again, I couldn't get through War and Peace, despite two attempts.
CortexBomb: Dostoevsky...I like Tolstoy's work as well, but Doestoevsky is a little more bleak and hopeless...granted, he tries to save it at times, but we all actually know how he felt ;-)
