¿Question #3166?
verandi: Would rather introduce newbies with Settlers or TtR?
Jrtolf: TtR, but Settlers works, too.
dbriel: Depends on the group but I usually use TTR
Narlgoth: You are missing a 'you' in that question. Ticket to Ride.
tcadams18: TtR. I find that it is a less complicated game. Plus newbies tend to not want to participate in trading in Settlers, which is a significant part of the game.
Woelf: That choice is decided entirely by the number of players present. If it's exactly 4, Settlers. If it's any other number TtR.
Jatoha: TtR --- oh snap! I knows de anagram .... or whatever
Phil Fleischmann: Settlers
lord nurgle: I think settlers...
Spirit of 70: Settlers.
DasViktor: TTR then Settlers. Downfall of Pompeii is another great one.
krakenfan69: Ticket to Ride. Not a fan of Settlers. Just seems to monotonous.
Micquebec: TtR all the way...less chance of having a "stuck on a Hex that doesn't provide any ressource" syndrome.
vandemonium: I find 1870 a fantastic game for newbies. It drives most of them away.
pwilz: Either one. I guess total newbies are better off with TTR, while people like old D&D players are better off learning Settlers.
Khabbi: TTR followed by Settlers.
jessitron: TtR
ZeroZilla: Settlers, because if they understood what I was getting at, then I'd be playing a game I enjoy.
2amp: settlers
Zarion of Arabel: TtR
Polgara: ttr
Tushratta: Settlers. It's a fun game that draws people in.
Ardos: huh?
atrium: TtR
shteev: Settlers. The trading aspect of the game turns people on very quickly, because it's social and not rules-based. Just remember to place a new player's start-up for them or they'll have a terrible game.
Geosmores: Ticket to Ride
TheKeck: Settlers I guess. Don't like either much.
Der Ubermolch: Settlers
DHEK: Settlers. It's slightly easier to get into and more forgiving, I think.
clandaith: TtR.
aleo09: it depends
Frodd: Settlers
leslauber: Settlers
ellephai: I'm wondering that very thing, but I think Settlers. The theme seems less narrow--not that necessarily matters so much, but if a newbie looks at it and thinks, "I don't like trains," then where are you? Settlers seems a little bit more diverse. Plus it has dice, and the Robber!
mcross: Ticket to Ride; easy gameplay, cool plastic trains
Numskull: Ticket to Ride if I like them, Settlers if I never want to see them again.
bigbadsteve: ttr
dmomo: I think it depends on the newbie. People that would play something like Trival Pursuit or Monopoly, TtR. People that might like Risk or Chess, Settlers. The tactics and themes have incredibly different appeal.
Nekura: Ticket to Ride. Settlers would come next.
Kubilai: Settlers, I do not know TtR and it does not look interesting to me.
JasonMatthews: Ticket to Ride
Ebon Wendigo: Either is okay
Chris Page: Carcassone, though the other two are both decent options.
scriptorum: TtR has proven to be fairly successful at converting.
hacksword: Neither. I
javelin98: Settlers
janiera: TtR
Janiv: I like introducing people to Settlers. It's not a hard game to catch on to and then enjoy it a bunch!
Quest22: Settlers
Gialmere: It depends.
Sheylon: Ticket to Ride.
ping9x: Ticket to Ride
Loquutus: Strip TtR
richdknows: Neither
hibikir: Expedition
Steve Leach: T2R
SteveK2: settlers
Scott Tepper: TtR
POvidiusNaso: TtR.
GrandpaDave: I dunno
louiseh: Depends on my mood and the newbies
Thedalek: Settlers
jdberry: TtR
ValJor: TtR. SoC is a bit too much for a newbie. Come to think of it, I would chose TransAmerica.
CharlieWonka: Settlers
Lord_Prussian: I think Ticket to Ride
sourwyrm: TtR
Larry Chong: TtR.
arkibet: Settlers! It's much more interactive than TtR
mrbeankc: Axis and Allies
Belash: if they are card players, TtR, if they are dice hounds, Settlers.
ssmooth: Settlers
davedanger: settlers
ekted: TtR
djlg: TtR
WasQ: Settlers
jttm: TtR
snoozefest: TtR
CortexBomb: Settlers, because I actually like it
puffinge: of those two, I believe ttr would go over better with true noobs.
heli: Catan
chaddyboy_2000: Settlers.
CDRodeffer: 6-Nimmt is a better gateway game than either of these.
skelebone: TtR is less confusing in the rules, because it seems like there's a lot going on with Settlers.
skrutsch: TtR...easier to explain.
sos1: Settlers
Spielfreak: Settlers
Tim Synge: TtR.
Dave: Settlers, by far.
