¿Question #379?
nix342: Do people go out of their way just to make sure you don't win games?
ocdspectrum: Just one that I am aware of. I don’t invite him anymore as he would rather prioritize me not winning than him winning.
LoupSolitaire: It happened to me a while back. I was playing a game of Monopoly with 3 members of my old D&D group. Right from the start, one of them openly asked the others to gang up and kick me out of the game ASAP. I can't tell you how despicable I find this kind of attitude. In such a situation, there's usually a decent person who calls out such a deplorable behavior. Unfortunately for me, in that group, that was me. So I was even more appalled when they agreed to it. The dice hadn't even been rolled once, and I already didn't want to play anymore. Despite that, I didn't say a word and we started playing. Although it was obvious I was no longer enjoying myself. I don't know how, but after a few rounds around the board, I somehow managed to get all four railroads and a single property on half the colors of the board. Therefore preventing them from building. I was also lucky enough to acquire all properties of a fifth color. Guess which one? That's right, Boardwalk and Park Place! Every turn after that, I went around the board with almost no consequences to my finances, while my opponents somehow managed to land on one of those two properties almost every turn. Before I knew it, I had enough to build my first two houses. I couldn't believe the luck I was having, and pretty soon I bankrupted them one after the other. Honestly, one of my sweetest victories, ever! They were genuinely not happy to see me win. I just smiled, humbly, and said: "Wanna play again?" They didn't feel like it; it was also the last time I ever played with them. I'm pretty sure I would have stopped playing board games if I hadn't won (thank you gaming gods). It's one thing to lose, but it's another to lose because all the other players around the table made it their goal to make your experience the worst.
oldhoss: In a 2P game all the time. If you are talking about a multiplayer game where another player doesn't care if they win or not so long as I lose, then no.
