¿Question #3923?
ssmooth: Why hasn't a Reiner Knizia game ever won SdJ?

ocdspectrum: He makes way too many games to have one be that good.
Woelf: Hasn't he?
Chris Page: This question predates Keltis.
GrimJester: Keltis won.
Vedantin: don't know
WatchmanX2000: who cares?
badgeguy: Because their too much fun?
tragicpoet: He isnt German enough
ZargonDDG: His games aren't good enough for families.
1000rpm: Just plain unlucky. Or not good enough.
mats-k: He hasn't?
DHEK: Beats me.
themagni: Not enough vowels.
eddyspaghetti: Politics and religion.
Geosphere: Why does it matter?
POvidiusNaso: Bad timing.
aleo09: not sure
Geosmores: His games are good just not great in the mind of sdj
KentuckyKid: The same reason Peter O'Toole never won a Best Actor Oscar?
suncrush: They're not that good.
ZiggyZambo: Evil conspiracy.
heli: Timing is part of it. A certain dryness to his games is also part of it. His best chance was probably RA in 1999, but you know the scoring is just a little bit too arcane to be a game grandparents buy an 8-year old. That's what the SdJ really aims for after all.
WalkerRedEye: erm probbaly somethgin to do with spaec monkeys thems notorious for causeing trouble
SisyphusX: It's too obvious.
dmomo: Bad timing.
arkibet: because the general public doesn't like to do intensive math in a game without any interaction. Have you ever watched people play a RK game? It's insanely boring
Nekura: It's a government conspiracy
jasta6: So the SdJ awards are fixed. See I told you so, many, many years ago. NOW do you believe me?
Mordachai: Because better games has won instead?
ssmooth: It's tempting to say that his complicated designs are too heavy, but this didn't keep El Grande or Tikal or Torres from winning; of course, the philosophy of the SdJ panel seems to have changed since then. Hopefully it's just a matter of timing and he'll nab the prize sometime soon with a great, deserving game.
mrspank: Because the Spiel des Jahres must be rigged. He's too prolific not to have won yet.
brainrob: Because the SdJ are out to sell family games for the industry, not to select a game that appeals to Geeks
vetinari7878: It's a Bavarian Illuminati conspiracy.
kimapesan: Conspiracy?
Edbryan: He's the Susan Lucci of game designers.
javelin98: C'mon -- he's the Susan Lucci of the gaming world.
gamesbook: Who is Reiner Knizia?
djlg: No awards anywhere make perfect logical sense.
skrutsch: the SdJ jury is out to get him
Thedalek: Because his good games are rarely intuitive and simple.
ValJor: I've heard the judges have something against him
Lord_Prussian: Probably bad timing and his games tend to be a bit meatier than the average SdJ fare.
chaddyboy_2000: I don't know.
Mike A: He's the Steven Spielberg of games?
jttm: Too famous?
Dave: Lack of family-friendly charm. (And I say that with him being my favorite designer.)
Randy Cox: Why haven't the Texas Rangers ever won a World Series? It's just the random way things work out some times. No conspiracy.
Spielfreak: Because his games always sell well and don't need the boost from the SdJ logo.
puffinge: It is outrageous, but I think Pokey's got the correct reason.
skelebone: Give it time. Many designers have never won a SdJ. Also, Knizia's games appeal to many mid-to-heavier gamers, but aren't the lighter family fare that usually has the widespread appeal for the SdJ.
CDRodeffer: Blacklisted.
CortexBomb: I don't even try to comprehend the thought patterns of the SdJ jury at this point
