¿Question #3948?
skelebone: Do you have any means to protect your game boxes from shelfwear?

kathleenryan: I balance them on my cat's head.
BOBBYCAN: Velvet shelf covers. And silk.
pricero1: You worry too much about the small things in life. Go and spread revolution! (This answer was brought to you by Anarchists Disunited.)
vandemonium: I hired a monkey butler to help with that, but it actually seemed to make things worse if you can believe it.
anaxiamander: Leaving them on a well-spaced rack with parchment paper in a dry closet has worked well thusfar for me.
Narlgoth: Nope, some of them are a little frayed around the edge even now. But this shows they've been playes and put through a lot so I don't mind. :- 1

POvidiusNaso: I carefully surround each game box in silk handkerchiefs. Every day, I rearrange my boxes so that the one on the bottom is the one on the top, shifting each one down one box space. Then, I pray to "Nrglifheim," lord of Box Corners, to preserve my boxes. A sacrifice of an eight-sided die is then performed, stinking up the house and angering the wife.

CDRodeffer: I'd suggest using trash bags, but then my wife would probably mistake my precious games as, well, rubbish.
Spielfreak: no
skelebone: On the games on which they will fit, I re-purpose some 12" record sleeves to bag up some games. This works for alea bookshelf size games, as well as some Rio Grande/Hans im Glueck/other flat-box games.
