Mohaihai: The only game that needs a timer is boiling eggs.

Phil Fleischmann: Too vague. It depends what game. In general timers do not speed up the game, they only speed up individual turns. One of my faves, for example, is RoboRally. Using a timer for each turn hurries up the slow players, but can also cause people to make more mistakes, thus making the game take longer.
